Great video, I used to work for a smocking publishing company here in South Australia and on some dresses we used to put a fine lace trim along the front lining to finish it off, that would have been a nice solution to the front lining being a bit short.. just a thought...

This dress is darling. After watching this, and only sewing 1 dress, and a few other easy projects, (think bowl cozy and some valences for the kitchen) I think I can do this. I’ve not ever smocked, but I’ve done some pretty complex cross stitch along with embroidery, so I think I’ll get an insertion smocked up and then I’ll buy the dress pattern. Wish me luck.
