Bro, for a second I thought it was some kind of vocal backing track. He’s great

That's what I was thinking. I like his voice on this song more than Tom Petty when he does it. Incredible

I play about six of Tom's songs. Free Fallin, and Face in the Crowd were the first two songs I learned. And now I have about twenty covers and playing Open Mics twice a week. Just started playing three years ago. Never thought it would go this far.

5 years ago when i started guitar you were among my first teachers. I learned a lot of beginner's staff from your videos. Thank you. Now it is a really amazing feeling that time went on and 1 week ago i made my own fingerstyle arrangement of Fly me to the moon; which i uploaded to my channel. Really so far it has been a great journey of mistakes and learning and i wish to continue it. Thanks again i really appreciate your work. :-) your signature opening sound ' Hey justin here how are you doin'? ' ... brings a lot of memory of initial days :-) .. those days when holding G major chord was a headache XD

I love when you sing brother. You are always in key and it helps with the timing and placement in the song.

This is the most complete lesson I've seen on this song on KZbin. And is just what I've been looking for. Everyone else is happy just to teach the chords and none of the nuances. Thanks Justin! You are awesome!

I’ve been playing this for years. Your breakdown has me picking up nuances of this tune I’ve never considered. You just helped me improve my rendition of this tune.Than you Justin! I really appreciate how you approach the music!

God bless Tom Petty, his legacy lives on forever. Hope this lesson works for acoustic too, because that's what Im using. My mom just bought me first guitar, and I wanted to play because of Tom, so I insist that my first song is his.
@jamesholmberg31586 жыл бұрын
You can ABSOLUTELY play this on your acoustic! So groovy that you wanted to play because of Tom and super sweet that you insist your first song is his. I bet he's flashing that cute Tom Petty boy-ish grin down on you.

Can you play the song now? lol

Great tone and I love how you build the layers of complexity in a simple to follow way - just can't quite get all the nuances in my playing

"...(4:45) the relationship where the words are going and where the strumming is going". That's the key to this whole tune if you're singing it as well. You hit the nail right on the head. Thanx great video.

fantastic. I love this. I think there is something way more interesting and musically powerful about taking simple bits and making them sing by creative use of timing, damping and embellishments rather that just playing a lot of complicated stuff really fast. Thanks for a great lesson on this Justin.

What an awesome insight, and perfectly stated too! Conversely, if your band is composed of No-talent Ass-clowns...then you better go crazy with make-up, costumes, breathing fire and spitting blood. Oh, and FIREWORKS! Before anyone mails me explosives, my 1st 8-track tape was Kiss Destroyer.

Always love it when my phone gives me a notification sound and wakes me up at 4 in the morning telling me it’s a Justin Guitar post!! Thanks for helping me iron out the A progression on one of my favorite Tom Petty songs to learn and play! I’m happy that you are recognizing what a gifted song writer he was and how much he will be missed but we have a tremendous catalogue to explore and remember. Listen to Walls (no.3) from the She’s the One soundtrack. Such a great track which just gets missed as it’s not one of those greatest hits everyone listens to. Also the album Hypnotic Eye is a pure lesson in Tone for us guitar players! Thanks for all your hard work in showing us how to be better musicians Justin! Cheers!
@al1976-v7m Жыл бұрын
Apart from his Greatest Hits (of which there are many), Tom has so many fantastic "second tier" songs and deep cuts, it's amazing! Took me years to find out because i only had his Greatest Hits for the longest time before getting Damn the Torpedos in 2013. Then Hypnotic Eye came out (fantastic album i agree) and i started really digging into his back catalogue.
