MARY & JOSEPH'S SONG

UPDATE: November 22, 2017.
I have had many requests for instrumental versions of Mary & Joseph's Song. Unfortunately, I have not had the finances to get into the studio and make that happen.
However, I did want to let people know that if you have a pretty good ear and can read chords, this link will provide a pdf file of the lyrics and chords in the original version. I realize this won't help everyone, but hopefully some of you will be able to take advantage of it and be able to use the song this Christmas season.

I wrote this several years ago in hopes that i would be recording a Christmas album. Four years later, that still hasn't happened, so I thought I'd just share this one via youtube.
We have "Breath of Heaven", a beautiful song about Mary's perspective on the birth of Christ, written by one of my very favorite artists, Amy Grant.
There are also songs written from Joseph's perspective, Joseph's Song, Strange Way to Save the World,
But when I think about Mary and Joseph together, it moves me so much more than pondering their separate journeys. Maybe it's the romantic in me. But I love to think about their love story. The tragedy and weight of what God had asked of both of them. And then, ultimately, the joy of realizing there was so much more to it then they could have ever imagined.
Thus was written, "Mary AND Joseph's Song" ;) I'm sure there's a much better title for it. And if I ever get around to recording that Christmas album, I'll be sure to think of one.
But for now, here it is.
This holiday season, may you sense the nearness of Christ and experience His peace in a way you never have before!

Beautifully perfect!!! Yes, a young devoted Jewish girl. Just imagine all she faced--thankfully God planned the perfect earthly father for His Son!! God's plans are always perfect---not easy, but perfect!!!! How blessed we are to have access to Bibles and Bible teaching churches in America---I often wonder if I had been born in another country or to unbelieving parents---I have had it very easy in believing. I have had a very hard life as my health broke at 26--I am an RN with severe Lupus and had 2 babies -1 a toddler and one 5 years old. Their dad could not deal. At 30, divorced and leaning on my parents to help--I worked until I could no longer go on--God is so faithful--I had to go on SS disability at age 37--I am now 62 and have raised my boys, seen the married and have 3 wonderful grandchildren. I am home bound now and deteriorating quickly---my home is not here---it is with that baby born of Mary by the Holy Spirit. Who grew up and died on the cross and was raised again so that I could be reconciled to God Almighty---I will also rise again and see my wonder Lord and Savior and my beloved parents!!! Life is hard now--it too, will be perfect one day.

Hello Marcia, God bless your music and bring your desires to fruition in His way and in His time ! How well the song brings out Joseph and Mary's thoughts as they submit to God's will even if they wld not comprehend the rugged path and the unlikely circumstances they will face. But God stood with them. That's all matters in our changing scenes of life ! I am amazed that I haven't come across this beautiful song before a couple of weeks ago. I played it at our weekly Devotions at our church in Liverpool last week and shared with other members of our church. Everyone loves it. I often have thought how young Mary would have been, given that time in history and the culture then. She must have been so scared! Think about it. An unwed mother? Back then?! She'd have been outcast at best and possibly stoned for her "sin", at worst! For Joseph to wrap his mind around this story she told him would've been very difficult, as well. I never thought about all that until I heard the song Breath of Heaven and your song here describes all that emotion really well! Beautiful song!

Beautiful voice and images. However, I'm not sure that Mary's response would be as stated here. She was well educated and versed in Jewish history and the Old Testament prophesies. She knew exactly what the angel was asking. Joseph also well versed in the prophesies and knowing the virtue of the woman he chose would not have doubted her, he just was not sure what his role should be until the angel spoke with him.
