I watched this movie and I agree with you some parts were moving but I personally didn’t like how Angel Gabriel was portrayed as. He seemed dark and creepy in my opinion and I didn’t like that.

When core doctrine or the Word has been skewed, in any biblical movie, it always proves a hidden agenda by the creators. It will go unnoticed to those without the Spirit as well, which might be the goal.

@@mauijttewaal his agenda is in the Bible. Nothing in this movie however is. This movie was based on the Proto evangelion gospel of James which isn’t even accepted fully by the Catholic Church. It contains such gems as Mary being fed by angels every day. And we’re supposed to believe that while she’s fed by angels every day when Gabriel the angel reveals to her that she’s with child she’s completely frightened as if she’s never seen an angel. This is a horrible movie and Joel Osteen is lost.

Written by the venerable Maria of Agreda in order of the holy mother Mary herself. Everything from just before her immaculate conception till her assumption is there. Yeah not reading a book written in the 17th century to give me more information than what was provided in Scripture. Do I now have to believe every person who calls themself a prophet as well. Well I guess Joseph Smith cannot be wrong either because he was told truths by Gabriel. Yes I am being sarcastic. I know that is hard to read over text. But there is a serious point. Jesus and the Holy Spirit declare at the very end of the book of revelation, the very end of the Bible "18 I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: if anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book, 19 and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book." This would be a warning not just to this book but to Scripture. Whoever comes with false prophesy the penalty should be just the same as the Old Testament because they make God to be a liar, they use his name for their own fame. This is deeply concerning.

That's wrong. She was a virgin when she got pregnant with Jesus through the power of God, but she had other children with Joseph ,Jesus had half brothers and sisters, and one of his half brothers was named James

Jesus was the only Son of God whom Mary gave birth to, so any children Mary and Joseph had together would be half siblings to Jesus. This is an old argument : mistranslation for cousins and/or step siblings. Thematically, Mary is the ark of the new covenant and as the first ark could not be "touched" (those who didn't died) so too this ark could not be touched. Also, why would Mary be entrusted to John at Jesus' death if he had other siblings as this wouod.not br proper. Let us instead if you are a believer take heart in the idea that all that hear His word will be His brothers 😊

I am a traditional Catholic and not a fan of the prosperity gospel types but keep in mind this film is a MOVIE! - Not a documentary and having watched it I can say it was beautifully filmed with very good actors and a wonderful message of love and hope. This film would be especially inspirational for young girls. Did the film take artistic license? Of Course - but let’s stop saying things like “do not watch this movie”. As we say in the real world “that’s jus crazy talk”

Excellent exegesis bro. It can be quite disturbing for most conservative christians. I would have loved to see the Lucifer character fall on account of prayers rather than a stab while he was carrying Mary. Overall, i think the cinematic approach of the movie should be appreciated rather than criticized. The use of extra biblical text adds to the depth of the story and doesn't seem to outrightly discredit the bible intentionally so i think we should enjoy the movie and give the producers, director & screenwriter their flowers. It's not easy to make these movies you know.

The movie was the WORST MOVIE I HAVE EVER SEEN!!! First Anthony Hopkins was terrible. The Bible never says how Mary's dad Joachim died but this movie took it upon themselves to make it up! Gabriel is an angel but they made him look like scary evil demon! Mary had Jesus in a barn!!! I guess they forgot that part too! I couldn't even finish watching the movie! I turned it off.

The “worst” movie you have ever seen? You must not have watched many movies - I have seen probably a 1,000 plus worse movies. Admittedly I am 72 but regardless this was a wonderful and inspirational movie - especially for young women. Remember it’s NOT a documentary but a story of love and hope - it’s a good time of year to watch this film especially if you have kids or young adults in the room.😊

@@JamesRobertson-o7t Hi James, let me clarify. It was the worse movie I've been in regards to God and religious movies. I've seen my share of bad movies myself. I think the reason I was so upset with this movie it that it wasn't accurate. They actually changed to real story of Mary and that's why I was upset. Mary is not a fictional character so the truth is important. It is a great time to watch movies but if I wanted my children to learn the true story of Mary I wouldn't watch this movie. I would hate for our children to get the story wrong. It's very important for our kids to know the truth not someone else's opinion. Facts are facts after all. She has the least innocent or angelic face! She expresses no grace! This movie is yet another made to actually attack in a subtle but very powerful way the real image of the Bible’s characters, and actually destroy exactly their main role! The song of Mary speaks clearly of her humble status, lower social class, which is of critical importance in the whole birth of GOD on this earth HE chooses the weak in order to show HIS glory! This movie is hateful against the real Mary, and against GOD’S GLORY! Mary was poor, o very very very important feature in the story of the birth of GOD! Who ever made this movie definitely doesn’t love JESUS and Mary HIS mother!

I was honestly disappointed in the movie about Mama Mary. All the scenes didn't match the real history. The action they did, the angel character looked like a fallen angel, And in that movie Mama Mary was a servant of the king! unfortunately that's not what happened in real life. Even Mama Mary's birth to Jesus Christ had a midwife!? 😂 Everything was wrong with that movie.
