The Pulmazyme enzyme is made in a cell line derived from Chinese Hamster ovaries (CHO cells). In 1957, cells from a hamster ovary were convinced to divide indefinitely (not something most cells do) and this cell line is commonly used to produce proteins for medical use because it is very good at making a lot of protein. It's pretty amazing that these cells have been dividing for nearly 70 years!

I use those for my nebulizer for what me and my asthma doctor called my neb treatments. I like them. I have the sidestream as well. I like the Pari LC Sprint neb cups. I take Xopenex through my nebulizer. I take it before activity to try to keep my oxygen levels stable and as needed for my asthma. I have the Pari Vios pro nebulizer. I will need to order more asthma nebulizer supplies. I also just got a rolling hospital table which I was excited to get! I love my little rolling hospital table.

I have had cats for over half a century. I get the feeling you don't pay much attention to suggestions and advice but my love of all cats is pushing me forward. Rubbing his bottom on the carpet/rug is often an indication of anal glands needing to be expressed. It is a simple procedure your vet can do in just a couple of minutes.
@H2SO4Queen3 жыл бұрын
I have never seen a cat do that but all my cats have always been outside. When you have 100s of people giving advice, it would be impossible to listen to everyone. They are busy enjoying life and I am glad.
@lynnd63053 жыл бұрын
@@H2SO4Queen I want them to enjoy their life. I also want cats to not have unnecessary pain. It may not be his glands. There are several things it might be. A quick trip to the vet is all it takes to find out.

Hamsters were being used in labs to study various diseases. Theodore Puck was interested in chromosomes and Chinese hamsters have fewer chromosomes than mice or rats. Not sure how he landed on ovary but he used cells from a hamster ovary in 1957 to establish a cell line (cells that divide continuously) that is now commonly used to make proteins like Pulmazyme.

IVIG is really expensive to produce because each dose is made from between 1,000 and 10,000 blood donations. My hospital used to love my donations as I always had a really high white blood cell count (I have EDS) and used to mark it specifically to use it to make IVIG! Unfortunately I am not allowed to donate anymore, but I did about 100 donations over a number of years.
@artastic_233 жыл бұрын
That’s awesome! I’ve thought about donating blood, but I don’t know if it would be safe because I have a lot of medical problems. Thank you for donating and helping other people!

@jessicah34503 жыл бұрын
My hematologist said they also need to match the IVIG specifically to your antibodies, like the drug is made specifically for each patient. I'm sure that makes it very expensive. Another reason to donate plasma if you can! I did it for grocery money in college until I couldn't anymore (bad veins and a hematological condition). I didn't know EDS causes high WBCs, I am trying to get tested because I have most of the symptoms, and late nights reading about my conditions tends to lead me back to it as one of many underlying causes. Thank you for sharing that info ❤️
@jessicah34503 жыл бұрын
@@artastic_23 I was still donating whole blood and plasma while on *a lot* of medications. There are only a few illnesses and hematological conditions that totally blacklist you from donating blood. Sometimes, they break it up into components that are still useful to someone :) Definitely check with your doctor! There is a huge shortage because of the pandemic.
