As a black man that was Richie's age during this show I didn't appreciate it the way I do know. In my 30's I saw the episode with the black couple and it brought tears to my eyes.

Well, all I can say is that Mary Tyler Moore "turned the world on with her smile" and that she "made it after all". She was terrific in this show and in her own comedy; both shows are classics. She inspired millions with her frankness about diabetes. I'm a diabetic myself, and she "pointed the way" for me in my own journey. She made it to 80 with this illness; I found that I have this condition when I was 26 and, in light of her example, I made up my mind to live with this illness for 50 years and reach the age of 76. Right now I'm 56. Mary gave so much of herself to help and encourage others. She lives on in our hearts.

May your best years be in front of you! Have you read the book she authored about her journey with juvenile diabetes? It was terrific. Blessing to you!

Mr. Van Dyke is an American treasure. I grew up in the 60s watching The Dick Van Dyke Show, and 50 years later, I’m still watching. In 2021, the only cast members are Mr. Van Dyke and Larry Matthews. ❤️

I just started watching this show and I really like. What I'm fascinated by is the fact that she was only about 25 years old when she started playing the character and today most 25 year old actresses would probably be playing high school kids instead of married housewives with kids.

I truly believed Dick Van Dyke had 2 wives. One was Mary Tyler Moore and the other was Julie Andrews ("Mary Poppins"). He was great with both of them.

Mary was the breakout star. Her part on the show was originally to be a small part. Thanks to the episode My Blonde Haired Brunette where she shined her part grew. She was the unofficial leading actress on the show. Originally Rose Marie was the lead actress and it led to tension between her and Mary. Funny thing was Mary still had last billington the show. And Mary Tyler Moore. Mary's scenes with Millie was priceless. I wish they could had more scenes together.

It's rare to see someone so glamorously beautiful who is also possessed with great comic talent. I think normally when you are that good looking you don't need to make people laugh to get them to relate to you.
@sophiaako7663
@sophiaako7663 Жыл бұрын
Super disagree. When a woman is beautiful, people think that she has achieved her goal as a female and cannot be very smart or clever or funny. The more beautiful and attractive she is, the less of a person she becomes and the more she becomes something to possess or a threat to be jealous of. The thing is, there's no correlation between looks and smarts/humour, because humans are not single-dimensional Sims characters. This is indisputable and obvious. What you're noticing is that the prettier a woman is, the less anyone around her thinks her mind matters.
@44032
@44032 Жыл бұрын
@@sophiaako7663 I think attractive people don't really have to use their comic skills to connect with others in the way less attractive people might have to so their talent in that area remains hidden until they get into show business. MTM went from "Happy Hotpoint" and "Sam" to Laura Petrie and comic skill people didn't know she had was revealed.

Wait I don’t understand 0:24 “you know that these people had sex” Was it taboo for couples to openly say that they’re in a sexual relationship back then? or did people just not expect them to have sex at all?
