This is a beautiful tribute from a father to his daughter. I could not help but wonder how Mary White would live in what the world has become today.- a world where social justice means anything but justice.

You will see your daughter again!!! I am sorry for your loss!! This movie was so beautiful!! And I didn’t pass away early with my parents… I am 75 now, and my dad passed away when he was 89 back in 2008, and this movie makes me miss him so very much, even more!! But I know I will get to see him in the not too distant future!! Plus, my mother and my brother and sister that have gone on before me!!!! I miss them so very much!!!! And now my husband, who passed away six months ago in October, and then, our dear daughter-in-law, who passed away on Easter Sunday!!! Thank you for sharing… Love, Sister Gay Michaelis ❤️🥰🙏💙😇🤟

I can only imagine how difficult it must be to have a much beloved child go on ahead. But your sweet daughter is very much alive in the memories and the stories…….and in the love. A beautiful story of parents nurturing their children to be free thinkers to bring about positive action. Mary spirit was lifted up long before she die . Kudos to the parents for their love towards her and giving her that space to spread her wings to take flight . I love the father admiration of her mind when she spoke ,he felt the warrior princess within her ,that passion, wisdom, strength to bring about change.

Had Mary lived, she was going to attend Wellesley College. She had been accepted. The obituary written by her father was beautiful. There is a lot of information online about the father, Mary, and the brother. The father and brother were Republicans. There is the Peter Pan Park in Emporia. The father donated the land for the park. There is a bust of the father and plaques telling Mary's story.

So many are missing the point here. Its not about how she died, it was how she lived. Back then it was frowned upon for women to speak their minds and express their opinions. Women back then were shut down for anything simply because they were women and you might think it not likely but Mary was in fact wise beyond her years and saw the seperation between men and women just like other women saw this however, Mary was the only young woman brave enough or as they called it back then, improper enough to speak her mind despite what others thought. The things women are allowed to do today such as vote and work is because of women like Mary using their voice. We are no different from Mary. We see something we find unfair we speak freely and that is what Mary did and you might say she is bratty and disrespectful but only because you're not looking at the present. Women are allowed to do far more presently rather than simply cooking, cleaning and giving birth. We can actually help our parents and our husbads now because women like Mary spoke up and she was only a teenager which tells you behind that bold attitude, she was wise beyond her years. Just a girl who didnt understand nor needed to understand seperation. She understood unity and thats what others needed to understand.

I’ve walked clean into a metal lamppost whilst looking at a cute girl across the street. And I have also witnessed the very same thing done by others a couple times, both men and women. And these occasions were hilarious in all cases. I want to feel bad for this girls death. Yet as I understand, we all must die sometime. These days people tend to want to extend life as long as possible. But I am not of this type. And I say, as for this girl-her families sorrows notwithstanding-what a hell of a way to go.

It appears to me that the Lord took this young lady home early; her heart was too tender and sweet to endure the indifference of so many. On another note, I don't think I've ever seen this young actress before. She is very beautiful and that hair, I love long hair! Then I saw her "mother's" hair and wow, she's has pretty hair too! Lol.
@JoMarieMАй бұрын
This was a good movie, but I wish they hadn't started it with the main character's death, which seemed to be a popular trend in filmmaking around this time period. Several other films that I know of, featuring famous people who died fairly young, tragic deaths also started out this way, such as Lawrence of Arabia, and the one about the prime minister of India who was assassinated (can't remember the guy's name now, unfortunately), which don't exactly make you want to watch the rest of the film. However with this one, once you can get past the tragic beginning, this is really a pretty good, inspiring story, and the young actress who played Mary did a great job. The tragic accident was a reminder that back then, NOBODY wore riding helmets, not even jockeys; had that been a thing, maybe Mary might have survived. It was a bit heartbreaking, seeing her bold spirit as a teenager and never getting to know what kind of a woman she might have become!
