Konk Yousf the Somali government (Kacaan regime) massacred Somalis of all regions not just the north, siad barre was a power hungry tyrant that violently repressed his opponents, the North didn’t support him due to lack of developments and resentment so he massacred them. He also did the same to people in the south. All Somalis suffered in the civil war so it doesn’t warrant for the north to separate. Let me ask you what has somaliland brought to its people except isolation from fellow Somalis in the south? Why can we forget about the inter isaaq wars that happened shortly after somaliland declared independence but we can’t do the same for Somalia? Why is there such large poverty in somaliland? Why is there such a lack of development in the sool and sanaag regions? Is there any progress that makes it unique to regions in Somalia like puntland? What about the abominable infrastructure in hargeisa? I’m sure some of your responses will be “because no recognition” but can basic things like roads be only done with recognition? Or is it just an excuse of this failure of a regime to justify its corruption?
