The biggest concern is that Islam is not just a religion, it’s also a political system. This is what makes the proliferation so worrying.
@biscuitsalive5 жыл бұрын
I think there is three things that separate Islam from any other religion. 1. It’s impossible to separate the religion of Islam from political Islam. Laws, permissible actions and all aspects of life is all under Islam’s remit. 2. The Quran is the word direct from god, and not open to interpretation. (Hence reformation is made impossible.) 3. Almost the majority of the content of Islam’s teaching and doctrines is outward looking, it’s about what to do to non Muslims. No other religion is so focused on other faiths and non believers. It’s hard wired to inspire conflict and hostility to people outside of its own group.

Spot on comments. When people raise the example of the Inquisition in Christianity, they are speaking of the actions of a temporal power (Rome) in response to a reforming movement in Christian theology (the Reformation) which sought to return the faith to its Apostolic roots and undermine the political authority of the Papacy and its vast empire. I wish people like Maryam would learn to recount history properly rather than speak of 'religion' in vague generalizations. It really doesn't help to clarify the facts.

That's the point entirely.Religion is what we produce - philosophical trickery to give credence to our cravings for power, but Christianity is about historical revelation that addresses our impoverished natures. Joe Lawrence the fundamentals of Islam are locked down. (In any version) ask any imam (or listen to their preachings) for any spin off of Islam. They all agree that the Quran is the word of god. This is exactly why there is so much conflict within Islam. The different sects are seen to be “interpreting” the word of god incorrectly. Hence why they kill each other in huge numbers. If they could agree there is room for interpretation then they would be a much more peaceful group
@biscuitsalive5 жыл бұрын
Joe Lawrence I strongly suggest you read the Quran, the basic hadiths and sunnah. It’s really an eye opener. And you must also be aware of the rule that they have that the scripture written later in Mohammed’s life overturns anything he wrote earlier in his life, for when there are contradictions. (His early writings was peaceful, but he became a powerful warlord later in his life, and very aggressively outward looking and intolerant. So I need to be aware of the chronology to get a clear understanding. (There are versions available that put it in chronological order) Believe u me, I’m not some chest banging bigot. The Quran and Islam is filled to the brim with incredibly clear calls to violence. Even if they allowed it to be interpreted. There’s only so many ways you can read the more violent passages. And al of them are a call to violence against non believers. Look at the religion of peace dot com. There is a list of the qurans worst passages there. But I do of course recommend reading the whole thing yourself. And not just cherry picking the worst. But even when you do that. You are not many pages in before it’s all “find the Jew hiding under the rocks and kill them” sort of stuff.

Joe Lawrence sorry. Been in the sea. Behind with my messages. Etc. Just search for “terrorist attacks 2018” or any year you choose. Wikipedia has a list that is updated and fairly thorough. The perpetrators is stated clearly. Along with death toll etc. Look through as many years as you like. The trend is incredibly clear. The majority is always an Islamic group every year. As to Christians persecuted/killed. Again this isn’t hard to find numbers. Just search for “how many Christians killed because of their religion?” There is many listing that cover many attacks. I’ve seen reports between 10 and 30 Christians are killed per day (on average) Simply because they are Christians. And that’s only the confirmed religious persecution’s. There without doubt is many more that is not classified as targeted because of their religion. But it’s clear that is the case. When I say most killed because of their religion. I am talking about killings by another religion. I’m not talking about Muslim killing muslin. That would sway results significantly. I’m specifically talking about Christians being killed because they are Christian. (By members of other religious groups.)

To state Islam is like other religions is a fundamental misunderstanding of Religion. Religions all have their scriptures and theology which can be significantly different. However, religions do not have a legal system, political system and culture that can literally run a country. Islam does and as such it is partially religious but also a system with the apparatus to control states. No religion outside of Islam has this because it is not religious. As such perhaps if one ripped the 20% religion out and removed all the Islamic state apparatus one could find a religion of peace, but it would no longer be Islam.

What is actually in any particular religious book and what its practitioners do are not the same thing. There isn't anywhere in the new testament that would justify stoning for example. That's also true of the Qoran though.

It's also work pointing out that Christianity doesn't get any respect in the west.

But then Islam has the Sīra and Hadith to straighten out the details by emulating the example of the most perfect prophet personally ordering death by stoning on multiple occasions.

I have a degree of respect for Maryam Namaze. She has done a lot to help ex-Muslims and has bravely stood up to Islamic extremists. However, in her own words she advocates 'open borders' and believes there should be no restrictions on Muslims coming to the west. To openly admit that Islam is not a peaceful religion and then to advocate that the west have unregulated and unlimited immigration from those countries is to advocate that the west commit suicide. If you haven't listened to her interview with Sam Harris on this topic I highly recommend it. You may feel like pulling your hair out by the end of it though. kzbin.info/www/bejne/nJW8aqVod8SKY8U

As someone who formally did islamic studies for a number of years i can tell you she seems more like a person that lived a certain upbringing in relation to spacific "muslim" countries and less like someone who actually studied islam. Because if she actually studied islam she wouldnt have made some of those ridiculous statements. Its honestly quite interesting that she talks about "islam" in relation to very specific countries. countries that have leaders that abuse their power and have rules in place that are against the teachings of islam, yet these countries are considered "muslim "counties. Kinda feels like shes speaking speciafically about Iran to a degree. firstly islam teaches in no uncertain terms that one should be kind and respect others of different religions, in fact mohammed himself said that non muslims should never be harmed. so anything else is absoloute nonsense. the line in fact reads that whomsoever harms a non muslim shall not even smell a whiff of paradise, indicating that muslims who harm non muslims will not enter heaven. secondly jihad is not war as people might think, the word means to struggle. muslims were told that jihad is permissible in a very specific time, when they were being hunted down and murdered just for being muslim about 1400 years ago. the command of jihad gave them permission essentially to fight back against those that were trying to hunt them down. another example of jihad was given when a muslim soldier who wanted to aid in a war being waged at the time was told to stay home to look after his elderly parents as that was his jihad. Jihad is not about fighting and the bullshit spread by terrorists talking about it as if it means war is nothing more than a twisted perversion of what it means. Thirdly, islam promotes peace to a standard that isnt even held up today by any country. if you think "islamic" militants or terrorists represent islam then you dont know the basic teachings of islam. As the basic rules of how to treat people in islam is totally undermined by terrorists and extremists. 1. its true homosexuality is not permitted in islam, does islam say homosexuals are to be killed, or harmed, NO. this is a cultural issue. 2. That part about it not being possible to hold hands in public is absoloute bullshit, that's got nothing to do with islam and more to do with the culture of the region. so arab countries and south east asian countries will have such societal rules but muslims all over the world dont bahave in this manner as it has nothing to do with islam. 3. stoning to death for being gay or an adulterer, again this is regional, cultural and not religious. "perfectly fine to throw someone off a building"? incredibly stupid statement as this is the most anti islamic thing possible. Nowhere in any islamic teachings is this kind of behavior ok. again this type of madness is pushed by people in power that manipulate their position. 4. The age for marriage has historically been low. Until recently some countries in europe still permitted marriage from as young as 14. In the United states some places still allow marriage from as young as 12. around 400 years ago in china people used to get married as young as 9. These were very different times, often marriages werent for sexual purpose but rather for building alliances. this is not something unique to islam as its all over the world even 1400 years ago. The problem is that people in certain countries are living in oppressed cultures and often islam is cited as the reason or blamed for the nasty/stupid shit that goes on. For example theres this notion that women are not as important or dont have as much rights as men in islam, absolute garbage. this kind of rhetoric is used by people of certain cultures to oppress women. In another instance, in islam marring a maternal 1st cousin is technically permissible. is it encouraged? NO. its kind of like a last resort if you have nobody to marry and you live in the middle of a damn desert. yet if you go to a country like pakistan its incredibly common to see counsins marry as theyre forced into it by their families. Again the problem here is culture. Ultimately the issue is that most people look to specific countries as representing what islam is and teachings. What most people fail to understand is that in a lot of these instances the countries in question mix their culture into their religion. And anyone who hasnt studied islam will struggle to differentiate between whats cultural and whats islam. I encourage anyone who has any questions to ask them and i will explain as best i can and answer purely from the teachings of islam and nothing else.

@ElKryptonian4 жыл бұрын
@chocobonita wow. well this is ridiculous. so you take one line at face value to mean what you'd like it to. Truth is there's absolutely no context for this statement. To be honest its incredibly ignorant to take a random line from the Quran and try to vilify Islam. By the same logic the bible and torah would be horrific. You need to look at what the context is. for instance is it a general statement, or a statement being told to someone in a specific situation at that time. Is it a commandment to all people of the religion or is it recounting the story of someone at the time. Its easy for one to make such a conclusion if you dont actually know anything about islam. Nobody ever mentions the face that the prophet Mohamed insisted on allowing others of different faiths to practice their religion, he commanded Muslims to respect others and their religions. Mohamed even said that any muslim who harms a non muslim will never enter heaven. So you tell me wheres the hate in that. Do yourself a favor. Instead of hunting for such ridiculous videos spreading hate. try broadening your understanding. watch some youtube talks by mufti menk or nouman ali khan. theyre good people well educated on just about everything islamic and do a great job at explaining the truth about islam and its core values especially to non muslims.
