My grandson’s behavior in peds his learning . they refused to give an ABA test, absolutely refuse. It’s mind-boggling. He’s terrified of his teachers now he’s terrified of school because they take everything personally and he’s only a seven-year-old kid in the first grade. Who’s now I’m gonna have to repeat first grade..

In another school in another state, he went to mental health for pre-K . The new school said that his IEP was incomplete from the other school. I do not believe that.

Thanks for this video, my son in 2nd grade he used to have 3 days at school and 2 days at center, now ABA had some staffing issues and they are saying we don’t want to do school and ABA and they told us to have him at full time ABA, We spoke with school and school saying they have one more ABA center option if we decide to continue at school. We are confuse with option to go with

It is a hard decision for sure! make sure you are happy with the teaching in all settings because, while schedule is important, you want him in a setting where they are working on the right things for him.

@@marybarbera I had meeting with current ABA and I asked them that the main reason I see is because I asked for the update meeting, go over his current plan discussion meeting, So they got very nervous and they just came back one option only that only one option works for him, I am okay to send him to 5 days to ABA but when I asked if sending him to ABA will produce any results in next 6 months they said there is 0% guarantee on that

For some kids this is appropriate, some kids need more and some it may be too much! It all depends on the assessment. You can learn how to help your child at home by starting here www.marybarbera.com/quiz

My son is two years and two months old just diagnosed has moderate autism little to no communication. We are being offered 2-3 hours in home Aba five days a week or 5-6 hours center based ABA. I am having the hardest time deciding which will be best for him he still does nap and I have a younger son who’s 8 months old. I want to do want is bed for him I don’t want him to be overwhelmed in the center I feel maybe starting at home and moving to the center based when he is closer to 3. What would your advice be should I do the one that gets him more hours we are also doing an hour of speech and OT

Not Mary, but a parent that started my then 4 year old in ABA at home, transitioned to the center and now he has full time ABA in a kindergarten prep program at age 5. He has improved so much, and we are hopeful for much more in the next 6 months. ABA helps alot, but for us getting to see the practices of ABA in our home made us comfortable sending him to a center since he wasn't very verbal, Good luck!

Without knowing your child, I cannot offer specific advice. It depends on so many factors as I outlined in the video. I do have free online workshops that talk more about my online courses that do offer advocacy units. www.marybarbera.com/workshops
