My mom used my sister and I as her marriage counselor. It started when we were around 9 or 10 years old. My dad wasn’t the best guy out there, but I really feel like she ruined any chance of us having a somewhat normal relationship with him by airing all of their big problems (including both of their sexual infidelities) with us when we were so young. Children are not their parents’ peers.
