It's my choice whenever I put in a request for anyone to react to Periphery
@brooks91843 жыл бұрын
Ahh Periphery, by far my favorite band. They offer so many directions in terms of sounds, there’s something for everyone in their catalogue. If you want bass I’d recommend Absolomb by Periphery

Oh yeah . I can't wait to see them in Anaheim with Archspire this November!

Nolly Getgood is an engineering madman. Even though he isn't a full-time member anymore, he's still an integral piece of that band.

Definitely check Reptile or Satellites out, those two are off their most recent album, and my God, that album is godly. Or if you want one from this same album as Erised, check out Luck of a Constant. Regardless, y'all got my sub. 🤘🏻
@Patrins3 жыл бұрын
These are my votes too. Erised is a great track but its not very representative of Periphery's sound (its pretty low-key). Reptile has a great mix of their different styles and satellites is something special but its a very slow build.

I have a feeling that they would really enjoy Catch Fire or other songs from Select Difficulty more than they would Hail Stan material

The solo you guys were liking so much at the end was a guest solo by John Petrucci from Dream Theater, who is one of the best guitarists of prog rock/metal
@ItsBabaEro3 жыл бұрын
He's also the uncle of Jake Bowen, 10 of the 3 guitarists of Periphery
@EricCouto3 жыл бұрын
This last solo is from John Petrucci, one of the best guitarrists of the genre! He was a guest, but I recommend his band for you: Dream Theater. They have so many great songs that is hard to pick only one, but Breaking All Illusions is a good example of their sound and has a beautiful solo.
@swingonthespiral3 жыл бұрын
I DIDNT KNOW THIS. I've always loved that guitar solo. I thought it was Jake Bowen lol. It his nephew anyways.
@krebros58453 жыл бұрын
Check out Periphery-Absolomb, IMO one of their best songs and definitely my favourite. Btw, the singer is 34 hahaha
@ShavidDerf3 жыл бұрын
Fun fact- Periphery has three guitarists, all of which play lead. The solo at the end of this song is actually John Petruccii from Dream Theater, who just happens to be the uncle of one of their guitarists, Jake Bowen. So much more of these guys that you need to hear. Please do more!

Some songs to check out Reptile...16min song by them...pure Art and the singer really showcases his potential...it has just about everything. Stranger things is groovy and melodic Blood Eagle is just brutal heavy...its about vikings! Garden in the Bones is really melodic and interesting in its changes.

Makes me sad that this was your boys first introduction to Periphery. Great song, don't get me wrong, but not an introduction song. I'd recommend diving straight into 'Reptile' (The 17 minute opener on their most recent album 'Hail Stan'), to get a good idea of who they are and what they sound like. One of the best sounding metal bands in the world at the moment, in terms of production and musicianship. HUGE band.

1. I’m checking out your back catalog and came across this. I have to say this song almost seems like two different songs, the first half with vocals wasn’t my favorite. I didn’t hate it, but I agreed with JB’s comment that it lacked low end, it had a tin can sort of sound to it. The second half which was at least mostly instrumental was better imo. 2. I appreciate that JB was already declaring way back in November what does and does not constitute Rock music 😂 3. Kingdom Hearts Terry had some good points made.

It feels experimental, and that it mashes genres together because it's actually a progressive metal band. Oddly place rests, odd meters, polyrhythms, etc. All fall under the progressive metal genre. No rules really. The djent rules!

You guys would not like most of the stuff people are suggesting here (especially reptile, its criminally overrated and way too long) most of it is pretty heavy and not as artistic in the way dude with the dreads said. First time listening to this band. Honestly if you guys didn’t review it I would have moved on when the singer first started. Just not a fan of that kind of vocal sound, reminds me like the guys said kind of emo screamy kids vibe.
