Hey dudes, Glad you enjoyed the track, it is the opening track on the album and they do play it live. Your idea of how they write music really hit the nail on the head, these guys have an archive of great riffs/ideas they fit together to create a song. If I could suggest another 2 tracks, both from this album: Periphery - Satellites (another epic) Periphery - Blood eagle (heavy track) You can't go wrong with these guys, they write the music they love and it shows.

Drummer Matt Halpern is amazing, cool ass dude. Lived locally and played in a different band about 15 years ago and would always pull off amazing drum fills and would point at me after knowing I wanted it. Hung out a lot then but haven't seen him in years and couldn't be happier for his success. Deserves it 💯

Periphery are progressive djent, and they have almost too many good songs to check out, Stranger Things, Marigold, Scarlet, Satellites, Lune, The Bad Thing, Make Total Destroy, and plenty of others to go down the rabbit hole with. Their production is always top notch as well

So true... A friend told me bout them . I listened to a couple of weeks on pandora cuz they wanted me to go to a concert that Periphery was headlining for this album. I was ok cool. I went to the show and was blown away. SO AMAZING!!! Ever since then I have dove deep into their music and have not found a song that I dont like. So many great songs and amazing musicianship by the entire band.

Going into this song as your first Periphery song is being thrown into the deep end of the pool, but it's so big and crazy and impressive that anyone who has heard metal can appreciate it. Sounds like you guys haven't heard much djent/prog metal though. Opeth is progressive but still pretty different sounding from Periphery, shows how diverse metal is.

This kind of prog metal is called “djent”. It’s like progressive metalcore. Other notable bands that make this kind of music are Meshuggah, TesseracT, and VOLA. Those bands are definitely worth checking out too. My recommendation is “Of Mind - Nocturne” by TesseracT.

Hey guys I thoroughly enjoyed your reaction to this track. Sometimes I like when people will pause a song and break down what they're thinking, but most of the time I much prefer when people just let the song roll and I get to see the emotion in their faces as the song progresses. Really great job here! Subscribed, and can't wait to see more. I would have to suggest you guys check out the band Between the Buried and Me. Wildly creative prog metal band very similar to this style. Maybe check out their song "Extremophile Elite." Cheers guys

Reptiles do not, in fact, have great peripheral vision. Many reptiles have vertical pupils which helps them focus on prey items at a moderate distance and accurately judge the space between themselves and the prey item. The result of the vertical pupils is a substantially weakened peripheral vision. Whereas herd animals like goats and such have evolved horizontal pupils. This is an adaptation that helps them scan the horizon for approaching predators while their heads are down grazing. The horizontal pupils gives them a wider range of vision to alert them of danger even while their heads are down munchin grass and shit.
