For the Hammermill paper, it is probably Index type rather than Cover type card. You won't get the wrong weight if you use the GSM (grams per square meter) weight for card rather than the lb. rating. 110 lb index card is about 199 GSM. 110 lb cover card is about 298 GSM. The card stock package doesn't always say whether it is cover or index, but you can tell from the difference in the GSM.

Hi Mary! You have nice tips here, and after watching it, I have a great tip for you. It's one I've used for many years. To keep the tops of glue bottles from sticking, I have used a thin layer of Vaseline around the rim. I also use it for paint bottles, spray cans, and glitter paste jars. It works for any product where the lid could get stuck on. I've even used it for honey and maple syrup. Give it a try, and you'll never have a problem with stuck on lids again.

Hola, been using the silicone mats for years with my embossing and holding stuff still. You can also purchase a "silicone soldering" mat, great for a larger area and hold paper still on it's smooth surface. Mine cost $8 at the hardware store. Just had an extra hack if you need it that I have also been doing for years. If you have a need for the "kevlar craft" mats that are as thin as paper and roll up. They are around $17-$18 for a size just over a standard sheet of 8.5"x 11" paper. I bought the exact same product in the form of an "oven liner". It is about the same price from Bed, Bath and Beyond, maybe a little less with a coupon, but it is 3 times the size. I used these when crafting away from my desk. Like out on my patio or sunroom table. Lastly, (sp?) I took a glass paperweight that fit easily in my hand and glued a piece of felt to the bottom and it not only decorates my desk, holds my papers down, but is the perfect item to slide on my stamping platform to "press" my stamps down. I barely need to press as it it heavy all on its own.

Hey Mary, I just thought of something that my husband picked up for me yesterday at Harbor Freight. He gets me a 12 pack of the 12x12 micro fiber clothes for $4.48...YES, $4.48. WAYYYY cheaper than getting them on Amazon. I use them for cleaning my stamps and for cleaning up after I do blending, watercoloring, cleaning my brushes. The only time I don't use them is when I use glitter paste because it really makes the clothes HARD. (I use paper toweling for that kind of clean up). I enjoyed and clicked like on your video. I often use Neenah Index 110, it is a nice and versatile paper. Some paper is too heavy, if the card will have layers. AND I get very frustrated because so many factors determine the quality of paper, and when you find a good one the information might not be on it. I make my own "chuckie" from a wooden stamp block and a felt pad from a furniture moving kit at the $ Tree. I had a LOT of block stamps which I have converted to cling stamps. That means the blocks are free and I can make several pressure tools for #1.25. I often shop at Re-Store and I am going to look for those light diffusers .(at least I think that is what they are. My hint for labeling is to make the label BEFORE you fill the bottle. Once I fill a bottle I am usually eagar to use it and procrastinate until I know longer know what is in what. Thanks again.

I didn't realize that Amazon sold the Makeup Brush holders for such a reasonable price! Thank you! Also, I have been using the small bottles for several years now. One tip I have for those is that if they do ever get clogged, instead of pushing my stainless steel pin into the clog to unclog it (risking that it will get stuck and require pliers to pull it out), if I instead pump the pin in and out to loosen it gradually, the pin doesn't get stuck in the tip. Either that, or I soak the top in warm water to soften the clog. It doesn't clog with the cap on, but if I leave it too long on the table without using it, it does sometime clog. I use Art Glitter glue now, although I have heard good things about Barely Art glue.

Hi. Thank you for this great video. I like a heavyweight cardstock of 300gsm, my fave is Portfolio Smooth Pure White, great for card bases, ink blending and a host of other things. I agree about the brush/tool holders, I got one for about five quid on Ali Express, I also got my needle tip glue bottles from there for a couple of pounds as well as some cheap syringes for filling them. Bargain! Another good tip for those who don't have a gem picking tool... Sasha Reade( or is that Reede?) Uses a poking tool with a bit of Blue Tack on the end and Natasha Foote uses a white wax pencil a bit like the ones used in nail salons. I can vouch for both of these ideas! If I think of/ remember any more I'll let you know. Thank you once again for your pearls of wisdom.

At the moment (11/ 3 /22), Tuesday Morning is starting to get back into stocking craft items. I think they have the item you’ve described; $5.99, if I recall correctly. And I think I’m going to pick one up to deal with my card SCRAPS. At the moment they’re in a wide, color-coded, version of a coupon wallet, but it just isn’t handy enough. I DO like the compactness of the item, but rummaging through each of the divisions becomes problematic. Sadly, I’ll still need some other means to “file” my larger portion of full sheets.

Thank you so much, just saw the first suggestion and had to respond. The silicone mat, well if you love it and have a Hobby Lobby near you, they have them in the Summer Time collections and that is currently 66% off. So the mat that sells for $5.99 is about $2.04, but it is only one and they are square. Look in the kitchen items. Hopefully this helps.

This video was suggested by KZbin and it was fun to watch. Another thing that works for holding multiple ink pads is a silicone kitchen sponge/soap holder. Got mine at a Marshall’s. It will hold 2 standard ink pads and 3 Distress pads, one hangs off slightly but stays in place. There are also many brands of blending brushes on Amazon that work really well. And I see I’m not the only one totally disappointed by not being able to find Accent Opaque cardstock anymore, it’s my go-to for card bases. Thankfully I still have a full unopened ream. I found this makeup silicone cleaning mats for 25 cents at a store called that’s cheap. The scorpal tape holder I glued a marble trivet with a pretty pink vase that is 2”x2” , holds big scissors T rulers and the tape. Another thrift store creation $2. I love the pen holder idea, with the light bulb grid. To avoid dirty fingers or prints I use a kids wood puzzle piece , oval, circle and square to hold down the paper for blending, it’s perfect and a free find! Just discovered you! I am ALWAYS on the lookout for ways to cut costs in my craft room, and you are right up my alley! I have used foam core board and hot glue to make SO many different storage units! (I can share pics if you are interested) I loved the idea of TH glass craft work surface, but thought the price was way too high for my budget. I salvaged a tempered glass shelf from the bottom of my neighbor's refrigerator that had died, covered the backside with Cricut transfer sheet and used a Sharpie to make the 1" lines show up better. Then I purchased the replacement mat from Ranger (I tried butcher paper plastic side up, but that just didn't work - wrong material) WAY cheaper! I had planned to use gridded clear Contact paper, but couldn't find any, so the Cricut transfer sheet was a second and more costly choice, but works well -- you just have to work to make sure you remove the air bubbles. Mine is also way bigger than the one from TH.
