I used to eat 7 Tulsi leaves every day when I was in India and I never had any cough, cold or sinus issues. But since started my life abroad things started going wrong. We had tulsi plant everywhere back home. I think I will follow you and get some when I go home. Tulsi, Muringa, Turmeric and guava leaves all were part of our life. Let us heal and have a peaceful life.

I recently joined Rosemary Gladstar's herbalism course. I can't believe how much information the course provides for under $500.00. I was looking at other courses for thousands, and I can't afford that. I can't say enough about this course. It's clear that she is not only very knowledgeable but also someone who is passionate about the info she shares. I highly recommend the course.

Prior to my wanting to learn how to make my own herbal remedies and at the very beginning of my journey into learning about canning and dehydrating we lived in a very large home that we were hired to home-sit for two years in Colorado. In the backyard, there was a very long stand of Juniper pine trees, probably about twelve of them and they would be very full of these Juniper berries. If I had only known back then what I know today, I would have been in heaven. I used to help the little Chickadee birds set up their winter homes in those trees every year by leaving them dry grass, tiny twigs, and lint from our dryer which they would always take to fortify their winter homes in those trees for the really hard winters that we would have in Colorado. I really love birds, especially after a Robin made a nest and hatched her babies in a Christmas tree we had put out after the holidays in our backyard. I miss living in Colorado, so much to experience there. Sorry for the long chat, but you brought back some memories with your mention of Juniper berries. Thank you so much for this very informative video, I am learning so much from your videos and I am so grateful to you. May God always Bless you with good health, safety, and prosperity in all you do. ~SuzyJC-in-Central-Southeastern-Ohio_09.09.2023~

Mary, I find that more and more I am moving towards true, sensibly established home makers that share skills and skill sets with their "followers". Now, whilst I would never classify myself as a "follower", in this case I am more than willing to become a student of life skills with a top grade teacher. I hope you realize that many of us have come to count on you passing on this invaluable knowledge. At 70, I still have a dearth of great learning and am happy to fill that void with well gotten information. Blessings to you and yours, Yee Haw to my Fellow Texans. Watch and learn grasshoppers.

Regarding the emergency pantry: Boka Saul rice is a type of rice that can be prepared by soaking it in water without cooking. May be useful when trying to conserve fuel/heating resources. If possible, do you mind considering a review of this product as it pertains to traveling, preparedness, and overall nutrition? I believe it may also be called Komal Saul rice. Thank you ☀️

I read somewhere that if buying dried herbs & spices to try & get them from Indian or other ethnic supermarkets as they are usually a better quality, more aromatic, more flavour, fresher, cheaper, a bigger variety & in larger quantities than your average supermarket dried herbs & spices.

I downloaded the Inventory Sheet and, to my surprise, I found that I had all but about 5 of the items listed either in my kitchen or garden. The missing items consisted of a couple of herbs that I don't use in cooking and the empty tea bags. The only herbs or spices that I had previously used as medicine were the mullein, tumeric and yarrow. I do have about a 12 foot elderberry "bush" in my back yard, which keeps me healthy during the winter.

Quick note for any Spanish speakers or anyone who has neighbors who are more comfortable speaking Spanish than English: There is a great resource called Donde No Hay Doctor ("Where there is no doctor"), which covers basic first aid and other home remedies. I just want to say I appreciate how much knowledge you share about traditional medicine, as well as food, and that you also talk about seeing and advising with healthcare professionals and about integrative medicine because that's such an amazing yet nuanced position and field of study and medicine that's very underrated and rare, in my opinion. Many people i come across are either completely against natural healing and will only trust the most trendy tech and drugs in modern medicine or will only trust herbal remedies and never even take their children to a doctor or hospital. So seeing such a balanced view promoted just makes my heart sing. I love studying plant medicine and pharmacognacy, as well as neuroscience, psychology, nutrition science, pharmacology, and general biology. It's my dream to combine these fields of study into my own integrative mental health practice.

Thanks for all the information I have been following herbalism for a few years now and feeling better and better Your list will be great to get more organised One thing I would recommend to everyone is to learn the energetic of herbs so for example what is cooling or warming Because often that’s the difference in between something being right for an individual or condition or not Rosemary books are included for beginner and also few books that relate traditional Chinese medicine, ailments and natural remedies Once you get reading you understand how the body works as a system and therefore get more confident in your approach We were put on this earth with everything we needed to thrive Herbs often found in the kitchens are a whole world of possibilities I also grow a few things and again, really simple often in pots or very small raised bed, at a very low cost. I encourage everyone to have a go at herbalism because we could be in a situation soon where there is no access to more mainstream remedies

I’m so thankful you mentioned the herbal teas by Organic India, because I neither have the accommodation or now the time I think to prepare what you suggest. I keep the basics such as manuka honey, olive leaf extract and oregano oil. If you can put a link to your 10 most important herbs video in your reply to me I would like to watch that. Perhaps you mention a company where I can get those herbs. Thank you so much for all you do, you are God’s gift to people at this time. I've learned from you so that I now save all my vegetable scraps in the freezer each month, then add them to the pot each month when I prepare chicken bone broth. I once did beef bone broth and turkey bone broth. I'm still searching for beef bones, the pre-packaged bones I found in one store were way too expensive to my mind. I put the broth in muffin pans to freeze, then pop them out and store them in freezer bags. Sometimes I only need one "puck," and when cooking for my children and grandchildren, I'll use 2-4. They were so handy at Thanksgiving and Christmas! Many thanks Mary, and may God shower you with blessings! 🙏🏻🤗💖

For all respiratory issues lobelia tincture, has been used for Bronchitis, phuemonia, and Asthma for sure kept in my apothecary. Willow bark, now many want white willow bark but all willow have the properties needed for make willow garlic oil which I have used on my kids, grandkids, cats, dogs ,hamsters, guinea pigs name it for ear infections. The garlic kills the bacteria and the willow takes the pain out bang now unlike Mullen. I collect the sap buds of the cotton wood tree any sticky sap buds will make nice creams lotions and healing salves. Cotton wood belongs to the willow family and has many of the same properties and more. Chuga mushroom dried and stores for daily tea and is a must it heals on a cellular level.

I love herbs and want to grow more. I have already gotten my seeds. I love "Juck Stores" - someone's junk is someone else's treasure. I have been collecting the flip top bottles - clear and dark. I even had a jar that got a crack in it and found another just like it at a thrift store except the rubber gasket was missing, so switched the lids - perfect solution and kept the cost down. One year at an auction, I got a coffee grounder for free. It has been perfect for making spices. I like to get certain spices in whole seeds and ground when needed. I love your videos and all the information you give out. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us!

Hey, Mary, I have learned so much from you. I make bone broth about every other month, more if I can find bone-in meats. I have my freezer bag of scraps, I have a couple people who keep bones and scraps for me, and I share the bone broth with them. My bone-broths are usually a mix of chicken and whatever other bone-in meat I can find, because everything seems to be boneless these days. I did buy beef bones I found in one store for my last batch, which was mixed with chicken bones, but turned out very very good. Finding beef or pork bones locally is getting harder and harder. I guess people don't realize that's half where the flavor is, and the other half is the fat? I swear, the pork chops I buy lately taste of water and whatever seasoning I put on them, they don't taste like anything else. I used to hate pork steaks because they were too strong, but now they barely taste of anything. It's not even that long ago that food tasted like food, not just flavors added...

You are so sweet and encouraging. You have helped me so much over the past few years. You make getting back to basics very simple. This is so necessary these days. Young people think it's hard but it doesn't have to be. They just need a guide...and permission to do it their own way. Thanks for the free downloads. I've made a notebook 🥰

I kindly recommend emphasizing the importance of labeling your blends. Uses, Side Effects, Interactions, Directions/Dosage. After all the efforts, research, and good intention involved it would be a unfortunate to negatively impact a loved one who should be taking an alternative herb simply because someone forgot in the heat of the moment. It would also be sad if someone were to take herbs or make a blend of herbs that had negative interactions when mixed or negatively impact someone who is pregnant or breastfeeding. Thank you, Mary! Excellent video as always. ☀️

When discount coupons are mentioned, it would be helpful to give date of video class. I sometimes get videos that are years old!

I have used a small spice can (like your basic ground black pepper can) of cinnamon from the 1970s, and 50 years later it's still flavorfull. Cinnamon stores well.

Hey Mary great video. We grow a lot of herbs and drink teas all summer and winter. I suffer from allergies too but I find for myself herbs actually help me and I dont have to take antihistamines as much. I cant wait until gardening season here its still winter here in Canada.

You might want look into growing herbs inside. Then when summer comes they have a good start. Also doing "sprouts" in a jar is a healthy practice.

I’m in Tampa Florida, and at Walmart they have 106oz glass jars with the clamp style lids for $6 I just bought some so they should still be about the same price. Just for anyone who may be looking for some near Tampa. Also saw some at target for $6 but they were about 1/2 the size as the ones at Walmart. Dollar tree sometimes has small ones about a pint size for $1.25 just trying to help anyone searching for low price jars with clamp lids.

This info is long lost to me. I had an amazing herbal medicine book that i lost when my home burned down a few years back, and i havent been able to replace it, as it went out of print. It had photos of every medicinal plant, weed, and herb, as well as simple, clear directions on drying and preparing into teas, salves, and capsules. I miss that book. The salves i made worked better than what you can buy

Hi Mary, I haven't yet looked at your list, but I wanted to say an important one that I use is oil of oregano. I'm not sure if you can make your own "hot" oil, but it has treated and cured so, so many issues. It's a hot oil, so you're supposed to cut it with a carrier oil, but I've used it pure on my toenails to cure nail fungus, ear infections and sore throats. Works on viruses, and both gram + and gram - bacteria! Gotta try it.

Thank you, Mary, for this wonderful teaching about herbs and stocking an herbal medicine cabinet. Using herbs should be simple. Often it is presented in an overly complicated way that discourages people from using them. You are putting herbs and their benefits right back in the hands of the people with this lesson. XOXOX Michele

I have those books and love them! I use them on a regular basis I keep them on the counter. I think Kami’s book offers something very unique when it comes to herbal recipe books. It has filled a gap for me on my journey. Thank you for the print out I can’t wait to look over the other videos you mention. I’ve been on this journey for five years and all your advice is spot on, just do little by little and it will keep building! Ps. Love the fire in the back and your sacred heart image!

Hi Mary! First, I wish to thank you! I had no idea how to create a traditional foods kitchen. But, I'm getting there, with your help. However, I now have an obstacle. Last November I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes, a result of covid from last July. My husband and I are retired and it's only the two of us at home. Do you have any 4 corners pantry advice for diabetics? As you know, flours, meals, etc., are pretty much a no-no for me. I do not wish to buy "special" foods--Keto bread, etc., Fairlife milk that is sold in stores. It's expensive for one thing, and I'd rather keep regular food in my pantries and learn to eat without buying special foods. Again, thank you so much!! Your videos and blogs are a ray of sunshine! I've learned so much from you! Happy to be your "Sweet Friend".
