The 75 challenge may not be realistic for everyone if you need additional training first consider starting with this daily regimen: Rise early no later than 11:45 am, finish 1 liter of tequila by 1pm, yell five grievances in the general direction of the pigeons in the park, nap six hours on park bench, upon waking from stupor hand catch one squirrel (don't worry most park squirrels are chubby and slow... you can do this!), release squirrel prior to being bitten, spend 10 minutes in self-flagellating quiet reflection regarding life choices, before turning in watch video of Mary cheerfully completing a 30 mile day on the PCT... that should keep you motivated until tomorrow.

What a great video with fantastic insights and information. While personally this challenge wouldn’t be something I’d want to do…. Your enthusiasm inspires me to do something that’s achievable for me (and push myself a little as well) ☺️ you really have a great talent for motivation in the gentlest but most powerful way 💚💚

Looking fantastic! Strong and energetic. Whatever your personal thoughts on this challenge it seems to have done wonders. At 75 I don’t think I’d have the stamina or endurance to do anything like this (maybe a very pared down version) I’m ecstatic to see your book is in its final stages and excited for its publication 😊. You answered my question about doing this challenge in inclement weather but I was also curious to know how many lbs/kilos you were lifting? This was a great video, thank you. 🙏🏻🥰

Hi Anita, lovely to read your comments as always 🥰 It was a great challenge to give me a bit of a kick up the bum which I felt like I needed at the time. I wasn't lifting heavy as I am fairly new to working out in the gym and would rather get my form right as my core/back isn't ready for heavy weights. I was deadlifting and squatting 32.5kg (I started with just my bodyweight, then my first weighted ones were 20kg). So glad you enjoyed the video and I will be sure to try and film the follow up one soon as I have now finished it.😊

I love this. Running and barbell strength training are my favourites. I really should do more stretching. I think the water would be the hardest part of the challenge for me. I'm in the loo non stop if I drink half that much 😂 Well done for doing so well on this challenge 👍🏻

So glad you found it interesting Sue, there is also a modified version of this out there called 75 soft which might also be worth a look at. My book is about living with chronic pain for nearly 20 years and when I hiked the Pacific Crest Trail solo despite it 😊

Gooood morning Mary !!!! I like parking away n walk up to the store. I like it even though it's not a proper walk but it makes me feel better 😂 !! It's probably more mental than physical, every step counts lol. I'm assuming the workout doesn't affect your headaches or anyting otherwise you would find another activity ??? Again, nice 2 c u back. I think in my mind what's inspiring about you now that you're off the trail is the fact that you're never satisfied with the status quo. I mean you could sit around the house and collect social security and KZbin money and eat bonbons. But instead you're always looking to challenge yourself be it physical or spiritual or mental !!! I think this is very positive for anyone who watches your channel that may get inspired !!! At heart, you are still Tinkerbell 😂👍🏽😃. This is just a guess but does the library trip have anything to do with your book ?? Or just a love of rows and rows of interesting things and people and places ????? They probably know you by first name down there 😂😅 !!!! Have they named a table and chair after you lol 🤣🤭. ATB Mary 😀

Goooood Morning Traky Boy! The workouts sometimes do effect my headaches, but I just adapt on the days that aren't so good by walking and doing gentle yoga - it's so important to listen to your body. Thanks so much for your kind words about my attitude being inspiring , I really do appreciate that. I'm definitely not someone that can just settle as I'm always looking for ways of either improving myself or doing things that make me want to get out of bed on a morning. I love going to the library as working from home can be distracting and also a little lonely at times. Yes I do write/edit my book when I go there, it gives me the focus I need as I don't get the urge to suddenly start cleaning or gardening 😆 The staff at the libraries I visit are all so lovely...and yes I know them all by name and even get left in charge sometimes to cover loo breaks 🤣

I'll be interested in hearing your thoughts in your next video. I just finished reading a book co-authored by Jonathan Haidt called "The coddling of the American mind". The authors tried to explain some disturbing changes in American society. I keep looking for the answer to my most persistent question...Why do I believe what I believe? Do you have a persistent question like that?

The idea that missing any of the bits is a failure of the whole is so self defeating. It is the same reason New Year’s Resolutions are usually doomed to fail. Living a healthy life is like sailing a boat. You look at where you are and compare it to where you want to be and you do course corrections to keep yourself on track. It is the only way sustainable life changes can happen for most people. Just my two cents worth.

I totally agree Brian, it is so much better to have a way of life that can be sustained, rather than a restrictive diet/attitude that doesn't allow for life to get in the way. I will talk about this in more detail in my follow up video but the plan worked well for me as I knew what I wanted out of it - however it won't suit most people.
