Thank you for this valuable information (as was the stove and hand warmer videos) It’s always good to get the unbiased opinion of a seasoned hiker like yourself and the extra effort you put forth in researching the most recent models. Hope we can all get out there soon to enjoy the great outdoors. Love the sheep, they make me happy. 🙏🏻🤗🤟🏻

That was a very well done video Mary! Great informational line up , beautiful back drop and great sound. Listening to the Crinkle section made me want some potato chips or “crisps,” as said in the UK.😊. For your other viewers, I am an older hiker and when I tried this mattress I found I had soreness when I was laying on my back as it tended to pull on my back joints. This is an awesome mattress as experienced by many of my hiker friends. Thank goodness for REI that allows you to return a product if it doesn’t work for you. Thank you Mary for another wonderful video!

Great video review of the product Mary and a lovely setting to demonstrate. I started to get a bit worried as the mist started closing in behind you, but fortunately you finished in time. x

I use the shorty version. I'm a side sleeper, but I also curl up in the spoon position so the short is perfect.

Another great review. I too have a Thermarest X-lite but the Large one and it weighs a pound but I like the extra width and length. It was PRICEY in the states. I too sleep on my side and roll from side to side and I get a dead hand on either side after a while and have to move it to get it back to life. I have not bottomed out with this pad yet. I have not slept in snow with my pad yet but for all the times I have used it, I feel like it has very good insulating value. John from MI

Another top notch review from Tinkerbell. A 5 time AT thru hiker uses this pad and suggests letting a little air out, as you mentioned. He believes this also helps reduce the chance of leaks. Thanks again Tink! 🧚♀️

Great review as always. I just purchased this pad to replace the Big Ages QCore SLX which didn't keep me warm on a 50 degree F night. Hoping this does the trick for me on the PCT! 🌻💛

Thanks Mary. I use the men's version of the one you showed. I'm works well, but I have been thinking about getting the "shorty" version and using my pack under my legs for warmth. I guess hikers are never satisfied :). Thanks for the tip about R values. I hadn't heard they changed the test method and I would have been confused if I bought a new one.

Good and thorough review, thanks! I ended up selling my NeoAir regular though, after some restless nights. I kept rolling of it, so I would defintely not reccommend the regular width. Maybe the wide would have done the trick, but I dind't try it, as I went and bought a Exped Synmat HL LW instead. I think the longitudinal baffles is a lot more comfortable, and they keep me from rolling of it.

Love Thermarest but once you have had the Nemo Tensor you could not go back to Thermarest. Quiet, no crinkle and wide. Still have the Thermarest but don’t use anymore. 😀

Just found you, great review. I’m looking at the women’s version and it looks like I’m near your height, also a side sleeper,and I toss and turn all night. I’ve never used a tapered mattress. I’m wondering if the hip area or leg area felt too narrow.
@MarysOutdoorAdventures3 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much Sue! No it never felt too narrow for me, I think it helped as I was in a mummy style sleeping bag which goes narrow there anyway. Turning over does involve a lift before the turn though 🤣

I have been shopping for a sleeping pad lately, this is very well timed! I wonder if anyone knows how this pad compares to the Sea to Summit Etherlight pad?
@alanawright69763 жыл бұрын
The STS is definitely heavier but a cushier pad. It ultimately will depend on if you want a less noisy/more comfy sleep for the added weight. I'm debating switching to the STS pad simply for the comfort. A good night's sleep is important to me.

@@MarysOutdoorAdventures Hi Mary. She likes to be warm. She needs moderate warmth now. We live in Suffolk where its quite warm and very dry. We are not going to get away for walking for awhile yet. We love watching your videos they are real escapism at the moment. Kind regards Ray Norris.

well that would be just like Mary to roll into a camp and in her fun way give warning " i have a Thermarst " LOL !!!!!! me, i would have called back " no worries lass, i have ear plugs for just such occassions " ................... ( not to mention some people roll right up next to ur tent a SNORE :( ( love ear plugs & weight nothing ) thanks Mary u r a angel !! i'm with you when it comes to the lenght !!! The mnt's of the PCT is no place for legs to be hanging of the pad, espcially in winter, and STEALING your much needed warmth !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! he extra oz or grams will be soooooo worth it :) PS....... what happened to your right hand ???? something i just noticed ???? :)

What is the name of the air sack you used to inflate if you don’t want to use your breath?
@MarysOutdoorAdventures3 жыл бұрын
Hi Melissa! It was called the Therm-a-rest NeoAir Pump Sack, but they do not sell it separate anymore as I believe it is now included.

Mary I'm surprised with all your outdoor experience you're violating rule one of wilderness safety in this video. Never ever ever turn your back on sheep. At one point they were stampeding and you seemed completely unaware. Unless I missed it there was no barrier between you and them and I don't think you could have gotten to a tree and climbed to a safe height before the thundering herd got to you. At that point all bets are off, there's no telling what they would have done. Hopefully others will read this comment and learn from your mistake. Just kidding and thanks for the review!!
