your channel really brings back those nostalgia from late 90s til 2010s. as an actual millennial who lived through those eras, your descriptions are totally bang on. other channels are coming from younger creator, they kinda read thru and doesn't give the same impression & impact

Enjoyed this video just like the Olsen sister one, properly because I see myself in these ladies as I was highly influenced by them. Funny thing you said about the world hipster, I remember being called a hipster by my family or that my style was hipster and being offended 😅. One thing I have to say is the fact that these ladies are so authenticity themselves. They were influencers without even intending to be so it came off really natural and genuine.

I miss this style so much! It was so fun yet practical. Anyone could wear what Alexa was wearing to anywhere. I feel like influencers nowadays only dress for TikTok because none of their outfits would be work or everyday appropriate.

I like AC not for her ensembles (the rock chick vibe is the part I resonate with), but her personality. She always comes off as herself, neither pretentious nor trying hard. Which cannot be said of the many "celebrities". Most of all, the way she speaks, both form and content.

Even though I was heavy into the Indie electro scene back then, I never heard the term indie sleaze until the last few years. It’s just like Y2K, nobody called it that during the actual era, only looking back.

This was my era and nobody called it that lol. These tiktokers just make up these pretentious names for a style to make it more kewl ~quiet luxury~indie sleaze~ give me a break! and I thought being a hipster was pretentious, this is worst.

I see olive green everywhere lately. Also, who wants to wear a heavy slouchy bag to a festival all day? If you need that much stuff, wear a backpack. Big messenger/hobo bags look practical, but it's a lot of material without necessarily a lot of capacity.

NGL I had a thought rockstud was coming back yesterday lol I’d do it! Like, small sized rockstud bags. I lived thru Indie Sleaze in my 20s. What a time…great era. Loved it so much more than Y2K era, I was 18 in 2000 and remember thinking how boring pop culture was at the time. Like, we had just closed the grunge era. Y2K was so strange. Indie sleaze was so welcomed fashion and music was so good!

Omg… a true walk down memory lane 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 Literally… the way I waited 8 weeks for my Cambridge Satchel Company bag as my “I’m a freshman in college and need a cool messenger bag for classes” bag lol!!!!!!! Alexa Chung certainly was an SYMBOL of this time; so insane to see something we lived through coming back for younger generations 🤯 Everywhere we looked her and Leandra Medine Cohen were on our screens 😂😂😂 Stephanie LaCava is also a good reference to this era!! The way I immediately read her book as soon as people I knew were calling her the lowkey Carrie Bradshaw 🙈

Hi Mary, it interesting the Indie Sleaze. Its very in now just look at the Celine women wear style by Hedi Slmane. He been sources his style from underground rock and roll dressing in man at YSL and now in Celine women wear. Hedi just love the sleaze underbelly of rock. I know you are hand bag girl and let you get back your excellence presentation and thanks for the education.

I hope this style never comes back. Everything was restricted, the silhouettes were very tight, the body was very exposed, the jeans were tight. I still remember the tight t-shirts with very short sleeves. It wasn't at all a "relaxed" style as some call it, on the contrary, there was much more attention to the outfit than now. The strong makeup, the straightened hair parted to the side, the long necklaces, always skinny jeans, it wasn't "effortless" at all 😂. I couldn't imagine myself today going to school every day with jeans, hair done up, overlapping collar and bracelets. This was before sweatpants were normalized. I remember that the look from morning to evening was not that different, in the morning you dressed with the same care with which you dressed in the evening to go to a party. Today it is very normal to go out in the morning with a sweatshirt and sweatpants. Before, you could only wear sweatpants to go to the gym. To date, oversized silhouettes have saved me.

I laughed at the ‘problematic’ comment and how Gen Z are credited with being happy to ‘call this out’ …..tragically missing the point I think..

I’d love to know the brand of your trench coat and if, as I suspect, it’s a designer brand, please highlight high street dupes. Thanks xoxo ❤️

It's a vintage Burberry Trench from the 90s. If you are into preloved, if you search Burberry's with the " 's" at the end, you will find vintage era coats for great deals. But for a dupe, I will say I have another trench from Michael Kors I purchased a decade ago and I still wear and love. I also like the look of Ralph Lauren coats. Thank you so much for watching❤❤❤
