Mas 49/56 unboxing from OWS, Navy Arms French Rebuild

After being rebuilt and put into storage this rifle has set along with its accessories since 1986.
Navy Arms imported these and sold them through Old Western Scrounger in 3 conditions

I published the English language manual that was included with your rifle. Navy Arms bought them from me. "1985 Reprint" was on the original manual so I reproduced it on my translation. You see, the French printed their manuals in batches and this particular manual was originally published in 1964. Then, when the stock was low, they would reprint it and put the reprint date on the cover. I've been collecting French firearms and accessories for some years now and I've translated a number of them for sale covering various French rifles, pistols, and optics. Great rifles. I just bought one of their MAS 36/51's (Already have a MAS 49/56) Excellent shape. While OWS is sold out, some apparently went to Ames Surplus and they still have some available.

Got one back in the day. Fine rifles. Kept the recoil pad on to improve the length of pull and keep the steel butt plate from slipping off the shoulder.

@marktroddyn3351 I purchased the sprung one from Murrays gunsmithing, no information on using it yet. I plan to reload my own using CCI 34 primers anyway, but I wanted the extra insurance of an extra preventative system.

Did he just say he paid 1300 for that oddball 7.5 French gun? I get the collector thing but you could have a much more Valuable rifle than this for that kind of money. M1 Carbine's K98's and the like are far better collectibles than a Mas good condition yes it should be French Rifles never fired and only dropped once! Got two French pistols a Mab D 7.65mm my granddad brought back from Europe during the war it runs great to this day and a 1935 7.65 long M1 pistol that my buddy brought back from Vietnam it runs good also when i can find the oddball ammo the French like to use. don't have a dime in either one of them. cool pistols but not something i would have spent money on. Too Each His Own i Guess!

The whole never fired and only dropped once is quite the misconception, the French fought hard in many wars including in Vietnam, the reason most are in great condition is that after they adopted something else they meticulously rebuilt all the former rifles to put them into warstocks.
