Anyone who thinks Shotokan is sissy should try the JKA instructors program or enter a shiai like this one, keep track of all your cuts & bruises, I did during thirteen years in a genuine Shotokan dojo with an old school Japanese Sensei, karate was not a game or sport with him & it got me over the hill of being fearful of fighting, not anymore.

@shashankkatiha94392 жыл бұрын
But, the truth is that most of the foremost Taekwondo masters themselves were apprentices of Shotokan Karate under Gichin Funakoshi sensei. So watch when you say anything just for the heck of it.
@KrushaA2 жыл бұрын
@@shashankkatiha9439 Founder of Taekwon-Do Gen. Choi Hong Hi based his Taekwon-Do technique on Gichin Funakoshi's Karate technique as he learned it while in Japan. But he did not stop at a simple repetition of it. He worked it out as much as possible, developed and improved it. We can say, brought to an absolutely possible level of purity and grace. In addition, the Korean tradition of martial arts tends to pay more attention to footwork than hands. Therefore, now it turned out that masters like master Kagawa in Karate are a single and unique phenomenon, and for Taekwon-Do this is an ordinary level of mastering the technique of legs for 4th dan. Also, how many Karatekas do round kick with the ball of the feet?And in taekwon-do, this is a mandatory and desirable technique to use.
@shashankkatiha94392 жыл бұрын
@@KrushaA Korea never had a tradition in martial art. The only recoreded martial art of Taekyon on which Taekwondo was named to make it sound more Korean( originally it was known as Tang soo do) remains mired in the concocted historical annals of Korea and has no record of existence. In fact Tkd is only being practised in South Korea and in North Korea noone even knows anything as such. Round house kicks don't exist in Karate... really??There is something called jodan mawashi geri which utilizes rotational motion to generate speed and power. Regards to improvement also I doubt coz taekwondo is always perceived as just a sport, however karate is a martial art and will always remain so... Just because he is a 9th dan doesn't mean he will only show techniques learnt in 9th dan. He must have learnt round house kicks even earlier than 4th Dan. If you really want to know what a karateka can do with his feet then check out the documentary 'the strongest karate' where they easily defeat kung fu and muay thai men. Imagine the plight of tkd masters.
@KrushaA2 жыл бұрын
@@shashankkatiha9439 In the previous post, I used the phrase "martial arts" because it has become a tradition in the West to baselessly apply it to all Eastern fighting sport systems. In fact, all Karate-like fighting systems (including all schools of Karate, Taekwon-Do, as well as Taekyon) are not martial arts. I have no desire to explain why. Consult serious Eastern sources if you want to know. Also, don't be so categorical in your statements. In addition to Taekyon, there have been and are traditional fighting systems and martial arts in Korea. General Choi is from North Korea and studied calligraphy and Taekyeon as a child with Master Han Il Dong. I did not say that in Karate there is no round kick with the ball of the foot. But, firstly, in all the videos on the Internet that I watched (performed by high-dan masters), it is shown as theoretically possible, but far from mandatory. Secondly, they perform it technically in the same way as a kick with the instep of the foot (on an opponent who is standing directly along the line of attack), which is not correct, since it is applied to an opponent located at an angle of 45 degrees from front to side (in General Choi's encyclopedia it is shown , why). This indicates that there IS such kick in Karate's arsenal, but it is not really practiced and used.
