This dude is the best. Been following him for years now my beats are finally dope!!! Thx homie!

You should make a drum air bus using a room reverb a filter to take out the lows of the reverb, tape saturation and compression. Then you individually send each hit to the send. It will give you a sound that makes your drums sound like a drum break and a less choppy sound. As well make a send to a distortion type plugin mess with settings to get some harsh grit then pepper that in the kit to make it crispy. Route them all to a group then compress to taste. Instant crack to your drums. The stereo widening took a little pop off of your drums when you added it. They were wider but had less snap.

Hi, at 8:30 you can see the 3 hihat sounds are alternating. I guess you really trigger each separatly? I saw in DAWs sometimes is the possibility to automatically change/rotate the sample in every use of a event to get a littel variation and life into a track. Do you know a way to do that in maschine? Sincerely

can you show how you program that drum pattern and also with the swing I have been trying to get that type of swing and drum pattern with machine but have not been able to achieve it you got it perfect

Andrew, have you considered making a mixing and mastering tutorial? it would be super useful for sure!
@Adsrsounds9 жыл бұрын
+Percy Enrique Guevara I will keep that in mind! I don't do much in terms of mixing and mastering though. My mixing is 80% getting the levels right, 10% panning, 5% EQ, and 5% dynamic effects. Mastering is usually a tinyyy bit of reverb depending on the project, bit of bus compression, and a limiter. I'm sure there are better ways to do it but that's my routine !

Andrew, great video along with all of your others! I use MASCHINE and absolutely love it. Question about your kick drum: I'm having trouble getting my kicks to "knock". I've experimented with side chain/ NY compression but i feel like they are still missing something. Do you have any suggestions? Maybe layering more or EQ technique? Thanks, keep the videos coming!!
@Adsrsounds9 жыл бұрын
jbest911 Glad you enjoyed it. If I really want to get a good kick, I'll usually layer two sounds - a deep, round, sub sound and a higher, sharper attack kick sample. I'll usually EQ out the lows on the attack sample so they don't conflict with the sub kick, as that provides the low end. Then I'll add compression, a bit of saturation, maybe Waves MaxxBass, etc on a bus of the two layers. Another trick I've read is to use some FX to trigger a low sine wave whenever your kick sample plays. This has a similar effect as sample layering that adds a deep layer to the kick. And keep in mind that a lot of the work in getting a sound or sample to sound right is to fit the others around it. In the case of the kick drum, that could mean sidechain compression driven by the kick, or it could mean EQing other low frequency sounds, so on and so forth. Hope this helps!

Hello there nice tutorial. I have a question: People are making the effect like when kick or drum hits the main melody's volume temporary decrease like compressing. How could we do that? Thank you.
@Kicksareus9194 жыл бұрын
Özgün Şen I think you are referring to side chaining my friend. That peaks the kick drum over the whole mix, it should be in the compressor in the sound plugin in tab

What levels are you putting your drums at? I could have my drums not clip at the sound level, but they do clip on the group and Master level.
