Good job 👏, they look good even without flowers 😊. Perhaps they didn't flower because they were so happy and didn't feel the need to and now they've had a bit of a shock it will kick them into action 😄

Thanks Carole, they do flower just no more than two flowers per year sometimes only one. Last year I put them higher up and no flowers at all. Now they are in completely new, fresh moss, they will either have a hissy fit or just produce more flowers, I would settle for six, well in the first year anyway. My you should be careful what I wish for the smell is awful but they are beautiful flowers even if they stink to high heaven.

Your masdevallia looks better than mine. I have three left. I decided I would only keep the ones that will put up with the extremes of my greenhouse. I think one is Prince Charming and I am not sure what the other two are. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Lynn 👋🏼 I’ve never seen a Masdevallia upside down in a pot of sphagnum moss before. I’ll be very interested to see how they go! I’m new to Masdevallia having got my first one only two months ago. I figure we will see how we get along over the spring and summer months here in Australia before I get more, but they have fast become my second favourite orchid, behind my Phals. Your channel is a wealth of info for me, so thank you for sharing your knowledge here 🙏🏼

Thank you Sharon, this is probably the only one with this growth habit, it cannot be grown very well in a pot the right way up because of it’s pendulous habit. There is a lovely hybrid with it as one of the parents, Masd Brian Charles and I grow this the same way it does not have the awful perfume that caesia does. Good luck with your Masdevallias.

How did they do? Here in the San Francisco Bay Area, we leave these plants outside all year long. They’re very suited to our climate and this very un-fussy.

I hope they work out for you. I had one years ago, beautiful foliage but it never flowered for me.

Mine flowers every year, either one or two flowers per plant apart from last year when I put them higher up in the greenhouse then no flowers at all. Put them back down where they were previously and had two flowers each this year but they should have so much more. Should be grateful really.
