November Update Buds & Blooms

Somehow when you're feeling off colour for any reason, finding new little buds and blooms is a tonic isn't it and you had some nice surprises today 😊

The Den subclausum is nice, those yellows get me every time. I'm loving Den lowii, it is a big beast of a thing, but it has an interesting party trick I wasn't aware of. It will put out a cluster of blooms at the tip of the cane, and only flowers from the tip. But news to me, it can flower multiple times from that tip. I have a cane that is on its third cluster of blooms, that plant has been in bloom continuously for almost six months now.

I wish I could get my ordinary subclausum to flower but it is very reluctant. As I just love the mixture of red and yellow flowers as well. Hopefully I will have he lowii by the spring. I have just managed to get hold of a Dend dearii as well so more blooms there as well, very white though that onel

Dracula’s are looking good Lynn should have some nice blooms early next year, I treated myself to a new heater on the Black Friday sales just to keep a lower minimum temperature during the night and protect from possible frost.

Thanks Mick, they are liking this weather for sure, I am letting them go down to 8C now so should keep them happy enough. I have to say I was impressed with the new heater it shows how old and decrepit the one was I had it was probably having to work overtime.

Tolumnia ,,,woww ,,it's beauty orchids, Hii Lyn.. I'm from indonesia ,,orchid lover too.. Exactly at end off november my phalaenopsis full off spike to blomm 🤗

Lovely blooms, thanks for the update. I love those swelense dendrobiums with two sets of bloom cluster! They are truly amazing. Do you ever stop watering them or lower the watering for the winter rest?

Thanks Mary, no I do not let them dry out completely but water less they are still growing on this years canes so will keep them going.
