My dad recently bought the Aston Martin Virage Volante. And it was between either that or the Maserati, and the Maser sounded more tempting because for a start it was cheaper, and a bit more aggressive. But even though with his specifications, the Aston cost about £70,000 more, It was way worth it, because in this video Steve says the Maser feels brisk, not quick, and trust me the Aston feels quick, not brisk! :)

Why spend more to get a car that's less rare like a Ferrari? I'd take this in a heartbeat. This is the car that puts a priceless smile on your face, while Ferrari puts a mess on your face while deciding what mode should you choose with the 5-way traction control. A perfect beach car, this is. Great review!

He keeps complaining about the "loud exhaust", when it is arguably one of the most beautiful sounding cars on the road. He also doesn't even mention that it is also the only exotic on the road today that is a true 4 seater. That's 4 adults, not 2 adults and 2 babies like on the Aston's.

Okay you have sound reasoning and that could be right, but just looking at the size of these cars I still think the Gran Cab goes up against heavy weights of its own size like the DB9/Virage Volante and possibly the Bentley GT Convertible if you want to push it a bit. And yeah I understand your desire for the Vantage for sportiness because its smaller, but the Virage Volante has a better power-weight ratio. In this price range, for an actual sporty convertible, I'd take an R8 V10.

I was all about the hairdresser cliché and "why take the roof off a perfectly good car" until I spent a sunny weekend in an SLK 350 in the Scottish highlands..yes you are comprised at the last 10% on the limit but be honest who can do 10/10ths on a public road anyway? The enjoyment of the roof down far outweighs it..this car is just special, looks great , rides well and has that noise...would have this over the coupe anyday

@hpkntnw I don´t see "the problem" you must look at it as the everyday car for the ferrari owner.. this car such as every maserati at this time, arent built for the track but for fast driving on any road, this car is made for reaching 100k miles and keep working.. such as f1 engines the higher the output the lower the engine reliability this is just a great balance between real car and dream car.

You guys need to up the volume of your videos, I swear you have some of the quietest videos of youtube. I have to double the volume to barely hear you whereas on other videos the volume is very loud on my normal setting.

Some sense definitely needs bringing to this situation. First of all, anybody who has said they'd have an R8 is missing the point completely and doesn't understand the passion and soul in a Maserati (or most Italian cars for that matter!) No Maser has ever been the fastest in its class, but as others have mentioned, it does at least seat 4 adults in comfort. And I'm sorry, but the design and looks are in a different league to ANYTHING this side of 200 grand. It is divine! Even the Virage looks

love the car but my neighbor had one of these and couldn't keep it running. it was constantly getting costly repairs, he eventually sold it and got a Bentley Continental GT

@samuraijack510 It's not underpowered. What power the base Corvette has? All of those srt8/cts-v/amg/ss/zr1/m-series are designed to be overpowered and "play with muscle" instead of being elegant as cars like Maseratti or Astons do, this Maseratti is just in a sweet spot to be a great GT car.

@DrummingAli93 I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE Astons. They are my ultimate dream car. Like, I love Astons like no other. And yeah, I would totally buy one if I could. The V8 Vantage S in that new cobalt blue colour is a stunner. This Maser is interesting because it's also got a V8, but it produces more horsepower (I think) and is in the same price range as the Vantage. But in terms of size and looks and seating, it compares to a DB9 for $100K less!!!! Hard to pass up I think!

I'd just buy a Aston Martin V8 Vantage Roadster. If I was going for a soft top GT. It's better looking, better engine and overall drive, oh and the noise. Nice snapy powerful V8 too. I love this Maserati but it wouldn't be my first choice if I had this budget to spend on a GT. So yes tables turned what would you have really??? :)

What I think the real difficulty buyers will need to face is this Maserati or the Aston Martin Virage Volante. The Virage may have 46 more horsepower, but you don't but these cars for pure speed, just speediness. Also the Virage looses some of the looks with the roof off and costs $65,000 more. I'll take the Maserati.

@driftbitchje1 since i have a maserati granturismo and im italian, i can tell that its an awesome car, never been or tried an Aston so i cant tell about it, but theyre not ugly and neither tractors in my opinion, Maserati has taken much from Aston's design, just look at the model before the Granturismo, the 4200 GT, and look now how Maserati style is close to Astons

That's true, name recognition is everything with these kind of cars. But is Aston much more prestigious than Maserati? Well now I would just take a V8 F-Type, which is faster and more powerful than both the Aston and Maserati, and in my opinion looks better.

Funny how some compare Gran Cabrio Sport or any Mazz to American so called GT's. take a good look at the Camaro, Mustang and Challenger. All about a foot taller; no where near design characteristics, performance, handling. Keep on building pretenders Detroit; good for economy and thats all.
