Thanks for the videos! I use this one as a reference. FYI coming from the drift world you can def jack up a Quattroporte from the front center subframe to lift the entire front end. Yours looks similar. Albeit I went a little offset to the side near the boxed portion of the lower A-arm. For some reason the Maserati subframe seems a bit skinny weakish (compared to a G35/350 or BMW even). You can also raise it up by the rear diff. Don’t be scurred

One way to help stop the drip from the filter is to use gel coated paper mixing cups for fiberglass repair or a super large slurpee paper cup. You cut a section out of the cup and place it around the filter. It becomes a inexpensive disposal funnel (gel coated resin cups are 1.50 @ or Dan through some large slurpees down LOL

It's interesting to see non professionals work on these sophisticated cars. To see how they solve problems, what they run into...very useful for the rest of us. Do you think you guys will attempt a clutch change? That's a real challenge without a floor lift, I'd imagine. Especially those cars with torque tubes and rear-mid engine formats.
@mwarren87483 жыл бұрын
No clutch if you don[t get an older Maserati 4200 or a Granturismo with MC shift (F1 transmission style.). The ZF automatic transmission is on the majority of Maserati Granturismo cars. I have had both models and the 4200 is expensive to maintain. I kept my 2008 Granturismo; currently have 52K miles on it. The 4200 got too needy with only 39K miles when I traded it for the Granturismo; I got $10K for the trade in.
@Sandy-oy2lr3 жыл бұрын
@@mwarren8748 Isn't the ZF a torque converter style automatic? I think they make DCTs as well as Getrag? If so, yeah...no clutch to change. My Z06 will be an expensive PITA to do. Especially replacing all the plastic stuff, rebuild the TTube as well as swap out the FP and PrgCanistr.
@mwarren87483 жыл бұрын
@@Sandy-oy2lr Yes torque converter style. The ZF 6HP26 transmission was used in lots of high end cars including Aston Martin DB9, DBS etc. I almost went to the Aston's after my 4200. Maserati dealer practically begged me to stay with the brand with the Granturismo. I have taken some of the Astons for test drives; going to get one with a V12 for sure. I miss my V12 days; last on was in a Mercedes SL600 I owned.

@normalguysupercar5 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure actually. It's quite possible there is one.
@TheLarryBrown Жыл бұрын
You can jack the rear on the differential housing. That also holds true for BMWs. I don't know why they make the housing sturdy enough to support half the weight on the car. There is a guy up above in the comments that says to do it this way and to be confident and not scared. I was a little nervous doing it to the BMW but it worked out, I've not tried it with the Maserati. How to jack up these cars and then use jack stands seems to be a popular question but my googling yielded little answers. It seems that for the Maserati the answer is: front: use the normal jack point for the jack, then put the jack stand on the pivoting lower control arm. rear: Jack on the differential and then use the jack stands on the normal jack points. The guys in this video did the front as I just described but they didn't explain it. Since you're putting half the weight on the car on the jack stand you need to be confident that you're getting it right. I was not able to tell clearly enough from this video where to put the jack stand, so it'll just be me with my legs under the car supported only by a hydraulic jack (just kidding, but not really).

My 2016 GT was telling me the 2 yr warranty (25k miles) is due when I was into my lease for a year and half and had less than 12500 miles. Apparently, it's either two years or 25k miles, whichever comes first. So if the car has been sitting on the lot for a long time, the new owner may hit the 2 year service way sooner depending on how long the car was sitting on the lot. The dealer decided to the full 12k service and partial items (whatever looked bad) from the 25k service list and made a note on the car's service maintenance log. It cost me about $900. I know for sure the timing belt was left out for the next round....

That oil filter was $95?! I just bought a 2008 GT. Are they reliable?
@normalguysupercar3 жыл бұрын
Yes they are

Mine was reliable until the battery got weak and left me stranded; I always have it on a CTEK battery charger. I replaced that battery 2 weeks later with an an Odyssey AGM. I need to do this major service now and while I am at it replace the alternator and during this time it needs new gaskets on the valve covers as it is dripping oil. My 2008 GT has 52K miles on it.

What about a video on how to tighten the chassis bolts on an Alfa Romeo 4C? Because the carbon fiber chassis, the bolts need to be tightened every couple of years at a cost of $1200 to $1300.

That's insane

Are these cars all that expensive to maintain?
@mwarren87483 жыл бұрын
They can be if you don't keep up on the maintenance. However having been a Maserati owner for over 10 years they are cheap compared to Ferrari's.
