I can so relate to the warm and cozy sentiment. I own all 11 seasons on DVD and there are certain episodes I will play on repeat all night long to sleep to. Superb interview.

Living in Los Angeles I have had my share of celebrity encounters. One was Mike Farrell. Unfortunately he was very rude to me and without provocation. I have carried that with me for over 30 years. I see here that he appears to be a much nicer and gentler Mike Farrell. That's what aging does to some people. I want to believe that my unfortunate encounter with him was not typical of his behavior and that he was having a bad day. I did enjoy this interview.

@@ThatsClassicTV My encounter with Mike was around 1985, give or take a year. M*A*S*H was in his rearview mirror at that point so perhaps he was struggling to get back on track with his career and he was on edge. Who knows? To say the least I was terribly disappointed in his less than friendly attitude toward me. For me there have been only two or three celebrity encounters that have been a disappointment for me and Mike was one. Despite this I do think he's an extraordinary actor and he was wonderful as Hunnicut. By the way the actress in question was Donna Loren.

One of "B.J.'s" best pranks with the help of "Dr. Sidney Friedman" - filling a deep moat just steps away from the "Swamp" doorway & yelling "Air Raid!" One of my favorites!

That is hysterical, I have to look that one up.

Yes! My favorite scene, Sidney yelled 'air raid' twice, Frank comes out also yelling 'air raid' twice, then stumbles & falls into the fox hole that B.J. filled with water.

Mike Farrell once portrayed President Kennedy in a one man monologuing, about his final few days in office, before Dallas. Really well done. He also did an obscure film called the Questor Tapes, about an android ( not Farrell) that achieves consciousness. Weird sci-fi film.

I can remember "Hawkeye's" persistence in learning "B.J.'s" full name. Nothing to it - "B.J." was named after his mom, "Bea" and his dad, "Jay." The look on "Hawkeye's" face - priceless!

Another great one! I'm assuming you prob asked Mike - but it'd be awesome to hear an interview with his wife the greaxt Shelley Fabares. Loved her in One Day at a Time & what a career - The Donna Reed Show, Coach, the hit record Johnny Angel, working with Elvis, Sinatra, Paul Newman, Hank Williams Jr, James Garner, Raymond Burr, Danny Thomas & Robert Urich

Hi, John! How have you been? That was a wonderful interview with Mike Farrell, and I can't wait for the second part. I also look forward to the Stefani Powers interview. "M.A.S.H" is my favorite sitcom (although it's really much more than that), and several of my favorite episodes revolve around B.J. I'm particularly thinking about the episode in which they recreate B.J.'s anniversary with the help of his wife and also the one where he tries to organize a reunion in the states with his friends' families. I'm sure the second half of the interview will include some discussion about his wife, Shelley Fabares, another of my favorites. By the way, I'm pretty sure the Donna of beach movies fame was Donna Loren.

His biggest concern was that B.J. wouldn't end up as just a clone of Trapper. B.J. was far different from Trapper. Alan, Mike and Wayne remained close friends till Wayne Rogers's death.

Season 4 was also Harry Morgan's first-year on the series also so if the series tanked that year Mike should not have blamed himself as it could also have been the departure of McLean Stevenson and Harry Morgan coming in as his replacement.
@ThatsClassicTV
@ThatsClassicTV Жыл бұрын
Valid point but I am sure he still would have felt the pressure as Harry was a seasoned acting veteran and Mike was still the younger guy coming in.

I kinda met and saw Mike with James Cromwell I think you spell his name low self esteem was afraid to ask either question s but they both came to Helena Montana to talk about a issue. So the questions I had wouldn't of been right but was oh I don't know so don't like being a former special ed kid hard to explain things
