Chicken room is a pretty hectic department. You are pulling chickens out of the oven, ribs, wings, cleaning skewers, skewering chickens, cleaning 6 plus ovens, the ovens for the ribs and wings, cleaning the sink you skewer chickens at, taking out a butt load of trash, and probably more things I can’t think of. After your morning guy leaves you are by yourself for 6 plus hours and vice versa in the morning.

Anyone know what time most day shift positions start? What's the earliest?
@blinkyfanne27387 ай бұрын
It depends what position you get. At first, you will get closing shifts no matter what position you start in. Schedules are made based off seniority. As a cashier assistant, You’ll gain seniority a bit faster than other positions since at that entry level job many people come and go. People who’ve been working there the longest years will get morning shift and employees with less seniority will start their shift and leave later. Bakery and Deli shifts start between 4:30am to 5am. Once you’re with the company for a long time, you get more flexibility with your schedule.

As a Costco employee who has been cross trained in many positions the worst position is lot crew, there aren't that many people working with you, members always leave trash, cardboard in the carts, for the states that have bottle machines it is very annoying to hear over the radio " Lot crew bottle machines are full when it's not, but members force bottles into the machine, not to mention working outside in the summer, winter and when it rains. Stocker has many cons as well. You can't really move slow you are always lifting, many of my co workers have had surgery from back and shoulder problems due to lifting. Supervisor varies depending on the department the worst is front end cashier as you are held accountable for many things that are out of your control, and you have to deal with the managers, members, and the cashiers and assistants, truly an underpaid and overwhelming position.

Deli, specifically the rotisserie room (which they will most likely start a new person out in) is by far the most physically demanding job of the departments alongside bakery sanitation. Closing is even worse. At the end of the shift, you will be broken physically and mentally. Thankfully in my store, I can get away with hiding a speaker and drinks which makes the job so nice. Also, member interaction is fairly low. You will mostly get people trying to ask questions for the meat department so you can just ask those guys the handle it or you get questions about when the next batch of chickens are coming out. But in the end, you will suffer from burns, be wet from either cleaning skewers or sweat, be covered in rancid grease, and on top of all that you could possibly be doing all that alone. Working in the rotisserie room is not for the weak. If your body doesn't break first, your mind will.
