I actually would have preferred if Morikawa took this week off and then released another banger. This chapter was an intermission. That being said, I find it odd that Rosario is not budging from his corner. I think he's hyping himself up with his "It's unfair!" views in order to start cheating. At this point Mashiba appears to have beaten the boxer Rosario and the only remaining way to make this interesting is to have Mashiba face the cheater Rosario which leads to him beating the cheating, "the world is unfair" shadow of him. Rosario also standing there reminds me of the "NO MÁS" incident where Roberto Duran, a possible inspiration for Rosario, refused to leave his corner and continue his bout against Sugar Ray Leonard. The early knockout/withdrawal also mirrors when Hearns, Mashiba's inspiration, KO'd Duran in the early rounds in a bout that was expected to go the distance. It is no coincidence that Kumi is in the arena. This is the first time she's seeing her brother shine like this and both his victory and the way someone like his brother, who was shunned by pretty much everyone, can find a place where is not only accepted but cherished, will make Kumi realize that boxing is more than a barbaric blood sport. This will make her soften her stance on Ippo returning. Ippo loves boxing, but he always puts others before him and he never realizes when he's being a monster in the ring. The road to Ippo's return starts on realizing that he has healed from his damage, on Kumi and his mother giving him the green light to return, the other fighters from his generation outright stating that he is even better than when he retired and possibly Sendo getting blasted and retired by Martinez to give him that final push in motivation to return to the ring.

If he starts trying to cheat, mashiba will notice because it's not the first time that rossario cheats aparently, I guess we will find out the next chapter

@@erickrueda16 I think the same, especially after the fight with Iga, but Morikawa has been showing these glimpses of those dark impulses from Mashiba, so they might end up being a factor later on in the fight, with Mashiba finally putting it to rest. I think Mashiba will finally drop that chip on his shoulder and be able to move on after getting the belt. He'll be able to finally consider himself a good brother and finally give Ippo the respect he deserves. OR he gives in, fouls, he's disqualified and barred from boxing ever again... It would be a dark ending to Mashiba's career.

Man, this chapter was short. Kind of disappointing after how amazing the last chapter was. Morikawa can phone it in some times I guess. At this point we know that the Sparring with Ippo will play a huge factor in Mashiba's victory. I am impatiently waiting for Ippo's involvement as a sparring partner to be revealed. This will then feed into my prediction that Ippo will be Martinez'es sparring partner for the Sendo title fight. Thanks for the update! Hopefully we will get something more next week.

No, I hope that Ippo won't help Martinez against Sendo, It'll be very unfair, cuz Ippo and Sendo have good relationship like friends.

@Daniyar05ts It makes perfect sense though. If the fight takes place in Japan, then who else could Ricardo possibly spar against to prepare for Sendo? Ippo has the same power, similar style, knows Sendo better than anyone, and is the only one to beat him. Twice even. Ricardo has already picked him as a sparring partner before. All he needs is to realize that Ippo is available to spar against. Hell, Sendo might even encourage him to do it, so that Ippo can feed him intel. Ultimately, this is how I see Ippo making a come back. For I believe that Ippo would legitimately knock down Martinez in a spar. Martinez will crush Sendo, but be hungry for the real challenge and publicly call out Ippo. Kamagawa would have witnessed the spar, and would be behind him, and the series would head towards it's climax. It is a scenario that connects the necessary dots. Ippo needs to get on Martinez'es radar, and Kamagawa needs to believe in him again. Ippo himself needs to become remotivated and having the whole nation of Japan urging him on just might do it. Plus the fight would take place in Tokyo, which would satisfy one of Kamagawa's dreams of having one of his pupils fighting there.

@@Daniyar05tsnarrative, Sendo is the perfect set up to hype a showdown between Ippo and Martinez. Their styles are similar. As are their power and will. Ippo has nothing to prove against Sendo. He has beaten him twice, and during their last spar, Sendo couldn't land a punch on him. Ippo has evolved beyond him. Sendo is actually one of my favorites in the series, but Ippo is the protagonist. A 3rd victory over Sendo doesn't mean much. A fight against Martinez does. Especially if Sendo loses convincingly. The question is how do we get there? Hence my theory.
