Metalfish S3 Unboxing

Ah brilliant, glad it helped. I love my red K39, the colour is amazing. Also you can fit a large cooler in the K39 which is helpful, I put a black ridge in mine

@@MashITTech I’m currently running a Noctua L9 but would love to upgrade to Blackridge once the k39 is here. Does it really fit or does it require bending the case panel? That was the impression I had from some build videos. Will go check if you published a k39 build as well

Unfortunately I didn't do a build on that machine as I built it a long time before I started the channel :( It does fit perfectly though without any bending. You obviously have to use the fan under the fins (as it comes out of the box) not on top.

@@MashITTech what I have seen online is fan under the fins and, since devil is in the details, replace the stock one with a noctua slim. Great to hear it really fits anyway:)

Yes, the stock fan is terrible! Really noisy. I have a slim 92mm on mine. If you get vlp ram you can get a slim 120mm in there but vlp is hard to get and really expensive 😭

Love Metalfish! I have a Metalfish G5 plus myself, but I also have an itx problem. Do you think it's possible to mod the top of the S3 to fit in a 120mm fan?

No definetly not its 10,5 centimeters wide so a 120 millimeter fan definetely will not fit

I sure can, I have another flex psu on the way as the metalfish flex psu blew up within 10 minutes! I would stay clear of the metalfish psu

The enhance enp-7660b. It is expensive but well worth it. I believe it is the only flex PSU that quiet out of the box

how long is the fan cable on the chassis fan? my fan header is on the bottom right side of my motherboard

The stock cable is about 25cm so you will have no problem routing it to the bottom of the motherboard 👍

Good video man. Planning to do a build in this case when the new ryzen cpus release. The fact that your metalfish psu blew up scares me though, I was planning to use the 500w model. What flex psu do you have in the k39 and how has it been running so far?

I have the enhance 600w 7660b in that machine and it is amazing but man was it expensive. Cost me £150 with impost fees :( I am going to take it out and do a test build in the S3 when I have chance as ALIexpress won't send me a replacement

Love how there's a lot of itx case options in AliExpress, but the shipping is almost or more than the price of the actual product. It pains me to think I have to invest so much money on a case while there's still other components I have to spend on.

Love small form factor PCs. Try to get your hands on that Mjolnir case as I believe it will set a new standard to this whole "tiny box with lots of power" thing. The S3 though seems like a nice budget alternative. Keep up the good work.

Thanks mate, I will take a look. Well testing didn’t go well last night. The metalfish 400w flex psu blew up! Certainly won’t be recommending that in the review

defective PSU, I was only drawing about 200w at the time

Chris tian fortunately it was just the gpu, I put all the other parts on a test bench and they still work! AliExpress have been rubbish, they won’t part refund me the psu, they won’t send a replacement my only option is to send the whole case back at my cost! Needless to say it will probably be my last AliExpress purchase. I now have my eye on another case (jonsbo T8) so think I am going to try that instead

I have both cases, the S3 is a very good upgrade over the K39, which feels small sometimes even for some itx graphics cards, but the back screws to disassemble it are not found in the S3. The one usb port and the strong handle makes this case more practical. But please, don't order it with any of the flex psu, they're so noisy, unless you change the fan for a quiter one or get another flex psu, like the one from the K39 which it's acceptable.

Thank you for that. I will be testing the flex psu later today for my upcoming video. I am sure I will end up changing the fan with a noctua as I hate noise. I have the enhance 7660b in my k39 but ordered the flex as it was much cheaper for a secondary rig. Will post the review shortly with more details

i Have this case...it came a few weeks ago..its AWESOME!.. only issue was the PSU with it...it was LOUD...gonna buy Noctua 40x40x20 with it

You think that is bad, my review is currently on hold as the PSU actually blew up within 15mins of use 😂 dealing with AliExpress customer service hasn’t been great either

Fortunately only the PSU and a breaker on my consumer unit. Typically it was late at night so I had to wander around with my phone trying to sort the power

Teryn I was testing the psu for fan noise, only had a 64w cpu and 100w Gpu running, started 3dmark and boom!
