@@TheAhalan That is a tough call! I also wanted to save money hence me buying the metal fish PSU and actually ended loosing even more money as ALIexpress were useless with the replacement PSU (wanting me to send it all back at my cost) and I still had to buy another PSU. I would honestly recommend just buying the Enhance psu whilst crying as the money leaves your wallet. At least you will know you are getting a decent and quiet PSU

@@MashITTech I mean, the single selling point (besides the price) of those aliexpress psus is the nice modular cabling. Nice review! not many people on youtube reviewing the metalfish....Quick question though, Which one would you recommend if I were to just buy the case, I already have a PSU, the K39 or the metal fish s3, right now they are both ~110 cad(83usd).
@MashITTech
@MashITTech 4 жыл бұрын
That is a really hard question as I love both. Personally I would choose the red K39 as I think it looks beautiful. The K39 has the advantages of 2x 2.5" bays instead of 1 on the S3 and also allows a thicker CPU cooler ( I use a back ridge cooler). The S3 is probably a bit more sturdy (thicker aluminium panels) has a top fan which you can mount uptown a 92mm slim and also allows for a slightly longer gfx card which gives you more options. I always find these questions so hard :)

weird, this is more like a copy of the s3, look at the usb and power plus is has same dimensions as S3 (fits longer GFX card but smaller cpu heatsink). Difference between K39 and v2 is the width, the v2 allows for larger heatsink (just realised I have v2 after all) I can fit a black ridge in my K39)
@TheOmarTech
@TheOmarTech 4 жыл бұрын
@@MashITTech the thing that puts me off about the K39/K39v2 is 1.5mm thickness; the metal seems too thin and will bend. S3 looks solid to travel with. K39 pro is 2.0mm thick and is the best looking in my opinion.

Thought I'd chime in and say that Geeek offer a pretty nice modular Enhance 7660B. Just be warned that it only just fits in the Metalfish S3 - its too long for a K39 or Velka 3. Also the 4+4pin CPU power is just a little too short. Even with 300mm cables, you'll come up short with that one cable so you'll need an extension. Which is a shame, because they are really nice soft silicone cables too.
@MashITTech

So most of the noise of the system is coming from the CPU and the GPU fans? Is the PSU too loud or does it makes annoying high pitch motor noises? It's my only concern.

i need that GPU, currently running on a rx550, need to upgrade soon. i have a issue with thermals when im overclocking my 5 2600, it gets too hot, maybe im doing something wrong or i need to replace my cooler which is an IS-40x low profile from ID COOLING what did the temp average with a Noctua Fan on stress? did you buy that flex in aliexpress or somewhere else? also Metalfish took down most of their cases in Aliexpress, dont know why tho
@MashITTech
@MashITTech 4 жыл бұрын
I tested the ID-30 recently and it was rubbish, sent it straight back. The l9i/a is brilliant. Temps were great but I am running a 9400f which maxes out at about 65w of power whilst stress testing. Temps were in the low 70s but I have a quiet fan profile set. I bought the flex and case from metal fish on ALIexpress website. The PSU was Abysmal, maybe that's why they have removed some products? I also bought the replacement enhance 7660-b from ALI and this model is brilliant although very expensive

@@MashITTech sad that i cant return back the cooler now, but maybe i will just save it for later builds that dont need that much stress on the cpu, but i will change this cooler to noctua if you said it makes a big temp difference, because i want that sweet overclock on this tiny beast, asrock b450 itx/ac top with zen 5 2600, with a low 8 gb ram(upgrade soon) and a rx550 from my old pc that also needs updating, the cpu case for me was fine as this is my first diy build that i bought with my money, i can say that it works but it may not works on others also its cheap when i bought it as it was sale on that time

@@teryn3723 I haven't tested the 40 so I am not sure the difference to the noctua, but the noctua has been the best low profile cooler I have used. I have managed to run a 8700 which was pulling 120w and it did struggle with that. Do you know how many watts the 2600 is pulling? Might be worth picking up one of the new 7nm zen 3 in October, that should run even cooler with a big boost in performance.
@teryn3723
@teryn3723 4 жыл бұрын
@@MashITTech that was actually my plan to upgrade to a 4000 series as my b450 can actually support it now with all the amd drama regarding support for the new cpus🤣 its pulling around 65w also, but if overclocked it pulls in around 80+ If the noctua can cool a 120w then its worth the switch for me, also did you try testing it with cover on and off?

I think you cut it too close when you chose the metalfish 400w psu. The sellers did advice to select a psu with more headroom. I think the 500w version would have worked for you. The enhance psu is TOP notch, but twice as expensive. AliExpress sells a much cheaper 80mm nidec silent fan for very cheap. It is very quiet and is a 3pin fan with speed control. Together with a noctua 40mm fan for the PSU, you will have a silent system under light usage, and a slightly louder one when gaming. Unless you game without any audio, you should not be able to hear it at all.
@MashITTech
@MashITTech 4 жыл бұрын
If it was a quality psu 400w would have been more than sufficient! I was only running a i5 9400 and a rx470 to test it, load was 200w!!! I have a Corsair 450w sfx running a 9700 + 2070 super with no problems. I only bought the 400w as I wanted a cheaper psu to run a low powered second system but I should have known not to cheap out
@kmchow98chow15
@kmchow98chow15 4 жыл бұрын
Mash IT Agree, except that we know the majority of the flex PSUs sold in China are not exactly the best quality. I’m running the Ryzen 2600 with 1660 Super with the 500w. I didn’t want to take the chances with a 400w, considering the cpu consumes 80w and the GPU draws 125w. The rest of the electronics would probably draw another 50w. The 500w PSU was actually sold out and I had to wait 3 weeks for it. I really wanted to bu6 the enhance PSU too. But it was too expensive.
