I have a question regarding Quran 4:159 - "No one will remain from among the People of the Book but will certainly believe in him before he dies, and on the Day of Doom, he shall be a witness against them." where Ahmadis say "Mautihi" is referring to the death of the people of the book rather than the death of Isa (as) using ibn Abbas' tafseer of the ayah to support this claim which would be contrary to the mainstream belief the future tense used here indicates Isa (as) is still alive and when he returns in the future, the people of the book will believe in him. Given the sheikh's knowledge of hadith (Just look at that library, ma shaa Allah) I was hoping he could deal with this issue and the greater point of contention that Isa (as) is indeed still alive in the heavens.

Asalam Alaykum. I could not properly understood the point made by you brother. However, from authentic narrations such as Abu Hurairah and as you have mentioned Ibn Abbas, this verse means the death of Prophet Isā, this alone defeats their claim that it refers to death of the people of the scripture. Secondly, even if we take into account that it refers to the people of the scripture, it makes no logical sense because it says that "before" their death, they will believe in him (Isā). Meaning, when they are alive, before dying, they will believe in Prophet Isā, however, the Jews whom are also amongst the people of the scripture does not believe in Prophet Isā and reject his Prophethood and they die upon this belief, and they do not believe in him (Isā) before dying. This concludes that this understanding renders the verse false (A'udhubillāh), which is not the case. There are verses in the Qur'an from which I can linguistically explain that Prophet Isā was lifted with his body and he is alive.

It is made clear in the Quran and Sunnah that a Jew or Christian whom is exposed to Islam and rejects it will be in the fire. What we shouldn’t do is saying that individual people will be in jannah or jahanam.
