A masked palm civet (aka gem-faced civet; Paguma larvata, family Viverridae) crossing the hibernating sett of Japanese badgers (Meles anakuma, family Mustelidae) in the secondary forest. Captured with my new trailcam in the evening (around 19:45 PM) of late-February 2024 in Japan. It was 3 degrees Celsius. It was such an unusually mild winter that most of the snowfall had melted away sooner than usual.
