It's actually not the DS hardware playing the video. When you start the game, you should notice a logo that reads something like “actimagine video codec”. The DS is, to me, like a gameboy advance with 2 screens and a 3d hardware driver (the GBA did not have a 3d driver on the device itself). but probably the only thing that is being played in real time is the audio, which I suppose is in midi format, not MP3 or wave like you'd hear in a video. So basically these videos are actually pre recorded :( But still, those graphics are really cool :) p.s. the DS hardware actually does the 3D graphics work in games like super mario 64 ds, mario party ds, new super mario bros, etc.

I just want to point out that you`re missing one cutscene. There`s a secret "cutscene zero" that you unlock if you beat Helper to Hero with every character. It`s nothing special, though - just the Original _Super Star`s_ version of the cutscenes.
