I absolutely love the beginning cut scene to this game, it is probably my favorite opening scene to a kirby game ever! Everything struck me as if it actually meant something. That the citizens of dreamland really care for their planet, the initial shock and dread from Dedede, the intense seriousness from Meta Knight as soon as he sees the enormous shadow. This is a full scale invasion on the planet and did everything in their power to protect what they love. As soon as Dedede regained focus, he told the waddle dees to prepare fire, and as he sees the oncoming chaos from the invaders, tells the waddle dees to fire at full power, without mercy. Then recoiling and thinking to himself, "we really wont be able to stop this will we? this is too much for us to handle...". This is like the God level threat from opm. The situation is even intense enough for Meta Knight to instantly get out the halberd and rush the enemy, trying to stop the unstoppable threat. But they could never have done anything, as Dedede was brought down with his castle by a huge beam, and Meta Kight's ship was shot down by the same beam that had be felled Dedede. Yet Meta Knight's efforts were not in vain as before he was mechanized, he was able to bring down half of the Haltmann Works Companies forces. However as both the king and the knight were brought down, Dreamland was left with on last hope... Kirby

My personal headcanon? Meta Knight was actually fighting back for a good long while before Kirby even woke up. But then he lost to Susie at Overload Ocean and got reworked into Mecha Knight. Meta Knightmare is actually a simulation to test Mecha Knight's combat abilities, run diagnostics, etc. That's why the enemies and bosses are different from the ones encountered in Story Mode. But wait, there's more! Once Meta Knight beats Haltmann 2.0 (again, inside the simulation Susie set up), Star Dream decides to test him itself. It makes virtual reproductions of Sectonia and Dark Matter Blade to fight him. Galacta Knight, on the other hand, actually invaded the simulation himself psychically, while Susie and the programmers scramble to figure out what the virus is and how it infiltrated the system. The whole thing breaks down when Kirby deals the final blow to Mecha Knight+, Mety wakes up, bails, and gets the Halberd ready to meet with Kirby.
