Why are the lever action rifles so damn beautiful
@vahlok1426
@vahlok1426 Жыл бұрын
I think its because of the intricacies and complex actions. I have fired a Winchester rifle, and they're fun to fire and rack new rounds. The act of opening the action and hearing the internals ratcheting and clicking into place is almost musical. It's only rivaled by bolt action rifles and AK model mag flick reloading for me.

@hxccomms777
@hxccomms777 18 күн бұрын
Don’t know where you’re coming up with that they are stronger? 94 has actual locking blocks on the bolt that lock it to the receiver. 336/ 1895 have no such thing. This is also a “post-64” 94 which are notorious for being looser. Similar to the “JM” marlins vs REMLINS.
@jk-kr8jt
@jk-kr8jt 17 күн бұрын
The 336 has always been a stronger action than a 94. I won't recommend doing it, but keep loading both to a failure and you'll see for yourself. If you choose to, fire the remotely and unfortunately you'll ruin 2 nice rifles. Again, please don't do it. It really doesn't matter since both are very good at what they were designed for and for the cartridges they use. I'll say that of the 2, my personal favorite is the 94. It just has a "cool" factor that the 336 doesn't match. @@hxccomms777

Marlin 336 is a wonderful design. One bolt allows you to remove the lever & bolt. It's such a simple & strong design. Makes it easy to clean & bore sight. It's such a solid gun & quite accurate. People can love their Winchester 94, but I wouldn't trade my 1970's Marlin 336 for one. If my house was on fire & I could only save one gun, it would be my Marlin 336 (has the most memories).

In fact, the Winchester 3030 model 94 rifle, the lever-action that uses is based off the model 1873 lever action by Winchester that I believe was using a black powder cartridge, and I don't recall the caliber but that lever action was also used in the model 94 and the reason that's significant is it's essentially a toggle bolt that's upside down and as we know from the German Luger that the toggle bolt is a very accurate very secure lock up with the breach and the 336 to my knowledge does not operate that way so why you think the 336 is more accurate I'm not sure. I just thought I'd point that out. Any slop in the levers action itself, as far as can you wiggle it a tiny bit when the levers completely opened oh, that's not a factor as affecting accuracy. The key to accuracy is how well the barrels made how well the rifling NSAID Barrel is made and how good the lock-up is when the bolt makes up to the chamber. And when the bolt is completely open and the lever is completely open any little slot from a pin or Fastener that lets the lever have a little bit of slop in it is not going to affect anything once the breach is closed and the bolt is sealed up against the breach and the Chamber so that little bit of slop does not factor into the guns accuracy. If there was slop in the bolt lock up in the boat moved around even when it was supposedly ready to fire then that would be a problem, but that's not what's going on.

I had a 336w (remlin) beautiful gun really good and accurate it was a real good hog gun held pretty well considering the way I treated it I was rough with it and it had not failed on me, I had one issue with it though, the rear barrel band screw broke when I had the gun in a bog death grip and once the screw broke I saw the prices on the screws and said screw it and when I say screw it I mean it literally I put a wood screw where that screw went and that sucker held up in there and after that it was good. I am really after a model 94 there’s just something about the classic straight stock with the top ejection.

I still prefer the Winchester 94. May not be able to mount a scope as easily, may have slightly looser tolerances; but has always been a reliable rifle. Plus it was made with the ejection out the top so both left/right hand shooters can buy it. Without having to pay $200-300 more for custom made left hand rifle.

Yes the 94AE is the side ejection version 😢 I regret selling just one Rifle. The only one I regret selling was my 94AE. I just couldn’t feed it! Zero 30 30 around my home. I wish I just got the press and made a lifetime amount of ammunition and kept it. God Bless ❤🖖🏼🇺🇸

I’ve got both and the both make fine brush guns. They tend to bite the shoulder though, as I’ve had numerous shoulder surgeries, neither is my go to anymore.

I have both, but my preferred rifle of the two is the Marlin. Of course my pre-64 Winchester will always have a spot in my collection as one of the few rifles I'll never sell

Ive had both, they were both great guns. But my favorite lever-action I ever owned was a Rossi .44mag with the saddle ring.

I had a 94 trapper with a scope and found it a fun little gun although I did find that I could only use good quality scopes on it as the gun would kill an ordinary scope pretty quickly.

Lots of lever lovers out there! Good to see all this positive feedback! Say friend, haven't seen a 336 with the straight grip and lever for quite a while! Is that a "Texan" model?? Thanks for all the good info and BTW, you do make some handsome leather goods!! Blsgs, SY, gg

The Winchester, 1894, and Marlin 336, are both excellent rifles. I own some of each. They both have their ups and downs. But in my opinion, the model 94 is the best handling and carrying rifle ever built. And all model 94s have been drilled and tapped for scopes since the introduction of angle eject in 1982.
