This kind of tutorial is the BEST. Everyone teaches what to do, but not how to do it. That leaves thousands fumbling through trying to figure out technique by experience. Having a teacher actually teach HOW saves a ton of frustration and potentially ruined projects. Thank you.

Excellent! I cant wait to stain my 3000 sf pink four side brick house. Should take me no more than 30 or 40 saturdays. I'm gonna start in back should be preety good at it by the time I get to the front. It will be worth it. Thanks for posting

Eric, why has no one caught this in 8 years I have no clue. So sorry, you deserve better. I am old now (especially 8 years older) so the number of brick I can stain has lowered but basically I can stain 3,000 modular size brick a day on average. Or around 435 sqft (depending on or if a lot of ladder work) so maybe 7 Saturdays unless you get a helper or two and get it done in half that time. Thanks for sharing, Don

Is there a reason for scattering? Just curious! Also, can you use any stain for brick? I have brick that I want just a slightly more vibrant red color, just not sure if that's possible
@MasonryCosmetics
@MasonryCosmetics Жыл бұрын
Isabele, this is a great question! We use a scattering application to keep a balanced color pattern throughout the project. Placement is as import as Stir, Stir, Stir and drain the brush. Why? Because when the brush is loaded with pigment you may get 4 brick applications before you will need to load the brush again. With these 4 applications the loaded brush will have more pigment on the brush for the first stained brick than on the last stained brick. These little details are great for consistent pattern of application. Additionally, the pressure that you apply may change from brick to brick. Thus, scattering gives a more blended appearance. For absorbent Masonry we would not recommend another product. Our product will not create a layer therefore we cannot hurt your brick. Check out www.goldstandardstainning.com

@otallono
@otallono 4 жыл бұрын
@@kamcr No, it's stain or sealer. You can ONLY apply stain to brick as any kind of paint/top coat will eventually flake off. If it's clear it's a penetrating sealer. Not "clear coat" as in a type of paint. And he's only using water in this video that's why it's "clear."

Staining the mortar-yes, no problem as long as it absorbs water.

@tiffanyheilman6119 2 жыл бұрын
If you choose to paint the brick, I'd recommend using a primer for brick/concrete called Loxon. It's sold at Sherwin-Williams. Primer will help get you the best uniform coverage by sealing the brick and you'll end up using less paint. Less paint= Less money/time spent. Raw brick will soak up paint like a sponge. The older it is the more dry it becomes.

Is it possible to stain the brick before installing it with the mortar? Then there is no chance of getting it on the mortar, get the stain fully on the edge brick and if you do something wrong you would have 2 chances per brick to get it right. Ron, rjkrjk@hotmail.com
