Excellent work! I agree that if you tried to get rid of all that pitting it would’ve taken off too much metal. The handle came out perfect. Boiled linseed oil does a great job brining out the natural grain of the wood. I also like how you filmed picking out the right tool to restore. You don’t see that on many restoration channels.😀👍

Terrific restoration. I have a Ryobi grinder and I plan to upgrade to Dewalt. I got a $20 kit of wire cup wheels ans accessories from Harbor Freight that are very useful. Also I love the hickory handle.

I use the cup wire wheel to remove rust and scale before flap disc and it lasts longer

Well done! The hammer turned out great. You’re right about those flap discs not lasting long. The trick is to use a grinding disc first to get the really bad stuff. They are cheap and last forever. Then use your flap discs to remove those marks and then on to non-woven abrasives or sandpaper depending on what type of finish you’re going for. Take care 😃👍🏼

@@RestorationbyAlabamaCreeks yes a fiber wheel or belt. Non-woven abrasives are often referred to as “Scotch Brites” although many companies make them. Really enjoy your videos.

Oh no! Where were you when I was pondering how long to make the handle. Twelve inch sounded good.
