The Freedom's Progress mission is just one big homage to Aliens. Soldiers arriving on a dead colony, completely devoid of any of the humans supposed to be there. That, and the music of course!

The paralyzed colonists in this mission always made me laugh. I imagined my crew members making fun of them, rearanging direction of their eyes, etc., while they were just staying there, scared and confused :D Well, it made me laugh until I've met the Scion o_O

@mourasek Incorrect. It actually sounds more like Alien when they're in the Derelict Spaceship. Though it does also have sounds from Aliens as well, so it basically sounds like both. Check out the soundtrack to Alien though, it's identical.

I didn't notice on my first playthrough, but when yesterday I replayed this I knew, the first 2 minutes are basically Jerry Goldsmith's Alien score! Most especifically the part when they discover the Space Jockey. Did they do a tribute to Goldsmith?

@Tigercorpse Incinerate is good, but if it's a later playthrough Reave is a much better alternative I found. It is just about as good at taking out armor, plus it takes out biotic barriers with the same efficiency and it stuns defenseless opponents and gives you hp to boot. Quite Powerful.

Since everyone's discussing tactics, here's what I use. (as a soldier) - Warp Ammo. Highly effective against all targets. Get it by research, or by bringing Jack and using Squad Warp Ammo. Use Jack and Tali together. Have Tali cast Energy Drain and then Jack use Biotic Shockwave. At max level, "Area Drain" will take out the sheilds or biotic barriers of four, maybe five enemies at once, and then Shockwave will send the f**kers flying. Ver useful during suicide mission (all the ledges xD)

@NoleMan007 That was tough, but you don't need the cloak. Just stay near the centre, by the tower, and there's no real problems until they bring in the Praetorian. Then just circle the arena, cover to cover, taking pot shots (switch between sniper and smg depending on current defense type) between its attacks. Incinerate is always your bestest best friend.

@LastODSTStanding Warp Ammo works well against nearly anything, but if you're after Synthetics specifically, like Geth or Mechs, use Dispruptor ammo. Disruptor Ammo eats through shields easily, which almost all synthetics have, and when it is used on un-armoured and un-shielded synthetics, it stuns them breifly.

It's probably only hard because you were lvl 30, with no upgrades or anything, but still level 30 enemies.

@lorcan0c That works. But if you go full soldier, best would be to get the geth shield tech and max incinerating ammo. That saved me a lot of problems when they were coming around and I had to shoot some infront and still got some shots from the side.

@lorcan0c Warp ammo is the type good against synthetics, right? When upgraded it actually overloads your target's weapon (provided it's using a gun) and will paralyze geth/mechs for a few seconds. I have Tali close with the shotgun when I do that, and have grunt for any particularly tough nuts.

I hated the mech boss on insanity for this, because i was using lvl 1 weapons. took me ages... i probs missed out on the weapon loadout. lol. i still didnt die during the battle. i jsut ran around a box with the mech shooting the box.

I don't find Insanity to be THAT tough at all. I think the mode would be called "Hard" in some action game where even Normal difficulty proves to be challenging. I haven't even upgraded my equipment or bought anything and I still find 'Insanity' to be a solid Hard mode. But it's fun cause it's challenging. I find ME3 to be harder cause in that the enemies actually try to flank you unlike in ME2 where they just rush you. In ME1 and 2 I found Hardcore to be a bit too much.
