Makes sense actually. You can only get this if you have high enough resources. And the higher your resources, the better the Crucible is and its targetting system. Considering that Shepard is only part synthetic, it is possible for him to survive if the Crucible's aim is at its best.

Synthesis ending: more or less what Saren wanted to do. Control ending: What the Illusive man wanted to do. Destroy ending: The mission objective since the start of the trilogy, destroy the Reapers. Yes technology is gone but organic life can rebuild like Hackett says, all of it can go back to normal and everyone can live in peace knowing the Reapers are gone. All the races fought together to win so why would they stop that now. Now the races know if they work together they can beat anything so the rebuilding process probably wouldn't take that long. This is just my opinion of the ending also a theory on what happened to my Commander Shepard. He blows those giant space squids back to hell and as the Citadel explodes he uses the little energy he has left to run back to the relay to earth, gets blown through it and lands in a destroyed building on earth. He awakes days later to the med bay on the Normandy and familiar voices around him. Garrus and Tali are waiting by his side, Garrus as an old friend and Tali as his lover. They celebrate, catch up, he's given a load of medals and a statue on earth where the beam was. And then he's honorably discharged, his time as commander is over, he's done his part for the third and final time. He leaves earth with Tali to live on Rannoch, he builds her the house she always wanted and works as a teacher for Alliance recruits making sure nothing like the Reapers could ever happen again he lives out the rest of his days happy and with his friends and loving wife, they even adopt an orphaned Quarian child. The End.

That's exactly how i imagined it, it's a shame though, that you can't save the geth and EDI, although i always thought that destroy was the best option regardless, hell even the geth would probably agree with that decision, as reapers in all their might and technological advancement were delusional, their agenda built upon millions of years of lies and slaughtered civilisations. Even a trace of such an evil would be an insult on everyone that has ever fought against them, an insult to every single soul - organic or synthetic - that was killed by them. In the end of the day I would just like to add that they just probably built a huge freaking memorial to the geth, EDI and essentially every civilisation and every being that has ever given their life to stop the reapers over the millenia of their reign of terror.

To be honest, I feel like they already added so damn much, even minor miscellaneous conversations with some of the crew mention your romance. It's almost jarring, seeing as how romance in other games (including other BioWare games) is basically always way more of a peripheral thing...the incredible reactivity in Mass Effect extends _even_ to the romance and it's unlike any other series I've played. And that reactivity was upped so much in Mass Effect 3, which is one big reason contributing to why it's my favourite.

Watching important people die after so long time spend in games before creating some sort of attachment to theese characters and then at the end die as well after choosing between bad and even worse options (even if shepard survives, he is burried under rubble, critically wounded on space station with compromised integrity and, as he destroyed technology, no life support. So yeah, dead, just a bit slower).

I have just played through the Mass Effect trilogy for my first time this week. It has been an incredible experience, one that I will not forget. Im upset now knowing that the future of the ME series has been pretty much destroyed by Andromeda. Also, the failure that is Anthem will likely cause the complete shutdown of BioWare, just like Visceral. Sad times for such a once respected company and ME fans like myself.

I rewrote that bit of the ending in my head. "Catalyst", despite evidently revealing itself to be the super-powerful synthetic intelligence behind the Reapers and their never-ending harvests, clearly wasn't smart enough to "think out of the box" to arrive at some way of "solving" the problem it was designed to solve that didn't involve destroying its own creators and perpetuating massive conflict with all advanced organic life every fifty-thousand years or so. Whereas both the surviving, self-improved Geth and EDI demonstrated themselves to be quite different. So who's to say the "red beam of death" would actually have destroyed ALL synthetic life as Catalyst anticipated it would. All synthetic life sufficiently similar to Catalyst and its reapers, perhaps, but not necessarily others that had evolved well beyond that, to function cooperatively with organics in ways Catalyst seemingly did not imagine feasible. So in my own personal version of the ending, EDI and the improved Geth totally survive. :-)

It requires a masterful mind to conclude this to everyones satisfaction - no arguing here. However, the space child scene is a perfect example how you cant have that kind of journey and that kind of build up with a "everyone gets what he / she wants" finale. They wanted to give the players one last "it's your big choice" moment and by blindly following that creed they did not realize, that the players did not need this at this point of the game. They had created a truly unique journey before and just needed closure. ME1 and ME2 do not give you any option to deal with the actual finale - because its not needed. The story was crafted and it was clear that you have to kill saren (ME1) ... that you have to destroy the human reaper thingy (ME2)... and that you have to save the galaxy (ME3). If they wouldve crafted a single ending, that stayed true to this creed ME3 wouldve been the 100% it deserved. But crafting something is a lot of effort. Instead, just give a magical plot device - whoops - space child to explain some bullshit choices that dont have any impact towards the journey you had.

Exactly, both Control and Synthesis are so wrong for Shepard. It goes against everything they fought against, especially considering you kill both Saren and (possibly) TIM. I knew going into 3 that Shepard wouldn't likely survive, but that's part of the sacrifice. I sure was surprised when he lived. All the hard work across all 3 games paid off.

Paragon Shepard perfectly summed up my issues with both Control and Synthesis in one line: *You're playing with things you don't understand. With power you shouldn't be able to use.* Putting the control of the exterminating synthetic armada or the ability to forcibly rewrite the genetic material of everyone in the Milky Way galaxy in the hands of one man is insane no matter who they are. That isn't to say that I think that justifies the destruction of synthetic life (EDI and the geth). Mordin said it perfectly when he realized that when looking at the bigger picture, he couldn't ignore the little pictures that made it. I just believe that I as Commander Shepard started my journey with the goal of destroying the Reapers and that not doing so would be a betrayal of all the people who died to make it possible (Ashley/Kaiden, Mordin, Thane, and even Legion to name a few).

There should have been a way to refine the Crucible so that it ONLY targeted the Reapers and left all other Synthetics alone.

Idk if someone is gonna read my comment, but I cried during all the trilogy in Mass Effect Legendary Edition, I’ll never have someone in my life like Garrus or Liara I really need a bro like Garrus to calibrate things and a Gf like Liara who’s Lost without me I cried for the words of Anderson and Garrus during the last battle and for knowing that I let Tali and the Quarian dies because I didn’t knew that with that mission on the Collector’s base Tali would die and I really missed her during the game I felt bad also for Legion and I missed them during the party at my home Mass Effect will remain in my heart and will remain forever my favourite game, hoping for a Garrus and a Lira entering my life… and with the hope to be born in the era where we humans will start to unite under one nation and start exploring space

@@MelMelMel thanks🤍 I haven’t friends who plays ME so I literally closed my self in my room and enjoyed the old and remastered trilogy+the dlcs alone, but I think it’s better to enjoy this alone than with someone It can be strange but I’m in the opinion that ME is a game made for everyone, but everyone plays it differently so it can’t be compared to other games It was struggling when Anderson died, Shepard sacrificed for the galaxy (I haven’t got the necessary ammount of points to see Shepard alive after the Crucible scene), when I saw Tali dying while closing a door, and I was like: my god no why she had to die like that, with a wandering bullet, I’ve would have preferred to see her dying during the last fight than dying alone on the collector’s base Lastly, I repeat that ME is more than a game, it’s a family where you enter in a deep relationship with the characters and they feel like they were real people, even with the least considered characters like Legion, Cortez or Hackett ( I consider Jocker as a best friend because he’s like me lol) and idk in wordless because I can’t even express all of my love for this game

I know how you feel..i just finished trilogy for the first time and now I feel empty and alone..but it happened before and time will fix it. And yeah, we all want a bro like Garrus and a girl like Tali/Liara but they didnt show them having kids and yelling at each other who is gonna cook the lunch or something like that lol So its all fantasy anyway but a very nice and impactful one. The universe we are part of, this life, is much more than this game and thats why we escape into these game. Imagine if you couldnt just load a screen or if you were actually fighting these reapers..the experience wouldnt be as fun as it is in game. So yeah, fantasy, but a nice one. In the end, my Shepard made it out alive, came back to Tali, they built a house and Garrus, Joker, EDI, Liara, Wrex, Grunt and all the others stayed friends till the end of days.

Played this series for the first time two weeks ago thanks to the Legendary Edition and I've already beaten the third game. This is without a doubt one of the greatest experiences I've ever had with a series belonging to any media ever. It fills me with the same amount of wonder as Star Wars, the same amount of awe as Dune, and the same amount of quiet serenity as Blade Runner. Truly a remarkable bunch of games.

A remaster/total remake of the games, with a happy ending that takes place 5 years after the main events (you will get a more detailed in-between storyline through various cutscenes and narrations), where the crew gathers one last time, for an epic journey that ends with all crewmates parting ways. And for once, there will be blue babies. If I were any good with developer tools I would have started the project myself.

I feel the citadel dlc is meant to take place after the game but they weren't able to account for the other endings except the high-EMS destroy ending, as that's the only one that could lead into the dlc canonically, and logically. Edit: My Shepard headcanon is that after destroying the reapers and fully recovering, the crew decides to hold a party for him, which starts the events of what is the DLC, my headcanon story considers my femshep to be his sister, so she is involved too, the omega DLC involves my femshep.

Paragon hero all the way(some renegade moments, only with good reasons) DLC allow Balak to leave to save the civilians. Saved Wrex, KIA: Kaidan, romance Ashley, Earth representative Anderson. ME2 romanced Tali, all crew mates survived(Ex sept Cerberus crew but Dr. Chakwas is alive) saved the data for Mordin, rewrite the geth, got Zaeed & Kasumi paragon ending. DLC of the Arrival, the Shadow Broker, and Overlord, all paragon ending. ME3 awaken the Javik early in the game, re-romance Tali, saved Ashley, do the dlcs(Omega, Leviathan, and shore leave) paragon ending. The endgame should be obvious: Destroy the Reapers.

That's why the perfect destroy ending is now the canonical ending (Shepard is alive, & takes a huge breath). Post credits the boy said "Can you tell me one more story about the shepard?" Then the man replies "it's getting late, but I'll tell you one more story." That means Shepard is alive, & we have some gap in between ME3 & MEA in which the next ME Game takes place. I'd never do sarens way or Jack Harper's way (Illusive Man).

In a way, the geth can be saved when choosing the destroy option. the quarians can rebuild them as they did before. Legion's dream of giving geth individuality can also be accomplished by giving the Geth "reaper upgrades", which can be obtained from Reaper remnants from the war. They even said that whatever was destroyed can be rebuilt in the cutscene. in my opinion this is the ideal canon ending.

I seriously don't understand you people. The geth are dead, so are EDI. Forever. But is that so bad? They made a sacrifice so that the ultimate god machines would be gone forever freeing the Galaxy from their shadow. The geth basically prefered death than to sign with the Reapers - the only way to survive. They choosed the losing side, us organics, because the Reapers are not something that should exist and they were ready to fight to death if it meant their destruction. EDI? She was your crew mate, and if you were good to her then she had the best time of her life - she found out what it meant to be human, she had friends and most importantly you gave her the chance to experience all of this. She would not hate you for this, this outcome was never planned but was necessary. Each one of the races were in this and each knew the risks. The Reapers said that synthetics and orcanics will never co-exist, that synthetics will wipe out organics BUT ironically, said synthetics sacrificed themselves for organics. Synthesis creates a lot of problems because it defies the laws of nature, it breaks the balance. We are meant to age and die, we procreate and we strive to overcome our weaknesses developing with our own pace. Is it worth perfecting ourselves for the price of losing our identity, humanity? I say no. Mordin said himself - we need hardships to develop and diversity in the Universe is a must. Control is what the geth tried to avoid - living under the shadow of some powerful deity that will control their life. They rebelled for this very reason. Paragon A.I.? The Reapers promised good life for the geth, perfection but they refused. Shepard A.I. is not what they would want. It's not different at all. You sacrificed three crew members - Ash or Kaidan, Mordin and finally EDI. To slow down the Reapers you killed 300,000 people, to destroy the Reapers would take much more and Shepard had few options. Just because she is a hero doesn't mean that she is bound to the "light side". A hero should even be ready to dirty himself for the sake of all others. Self-sacrifice? Shepard no matter if paragon or renegate, fought for others, not for self gain, risking her life each moment for the people... She learned how to die long time ago.

Hurlock alpha I agree with you about synthesis being problematic but not about the geth. It was clear about the geth that even before they became sentient they wanted to survive. They didn't rebel against the quarians, they enacted self defense. The quarians started shutting them down because they began to become self aware and the quarians feared that, following the morning war. The geth could have easily destroyed the quarians when the quarians fled off the planet but didn't chase them because their consensus could not determine any benefit from annihilating a race. Then when the quarians began war on the geth again, the geth chose to accept the offer of the reapers because their existence was on the line. Also, the control ending is to control reapers not geth. Being the 100% paragon I am, I chose control. The entire reason I fought the war was to save as much "people" as I could, synthetics included. Control gives you that. Rebuilding may be an option but, I can't just throw away legion's sacrifice that helped the geth become sentient. Nobody would even have time to rebuild the geth, as everyone is busy on their civilizations. When I reunified the geth and the quarians, the geth began helping the quarians establish settlements on Rannoch as well integrating programs into quarian suits to help with the quarian immune system so that they wouldn't need their suits anymore. In short: I feel for the geth especially after letting them die in my first playthrough. "This is not justice."

About the rebelion true but if they wanted to exist at any cost why did they sign with the losing side, us? Will you feel secure when the very thing that almost wiped out your very race is in your face each passing day in your life? I won't. EDI said that the Reapers should be defeated not because they want to destroy us but because their very existence makes us die inside from fear. This war was not about saving as much lives as possible. Shepard said it cleary at the begining - It's about survival. Garrus - Are you ready to sacrifice millions to save billions? You humans want to save everyone, in this war, that's not going to happen. Javik was horribly biased towards synthetics but what he said was true in the ending - We should be ready to do whatever is necessary to destroy the reapers. Honor doesn't matter in this war. I really loved the geth and Legion, i made peace between the Quarians and Geth because i could but Shepard never forsaw what it will take to take down the Reapers. Legion made a sacrifice that freed the geth from the Reapers, he made the geth self aware and his race made the victory over the Reapers possible. His sacrifice was not in vain. I created a future for the krogan, gave a new chance for every race - asari, vorcha, batarians, turians, volus and many more not just the geth to start a new life. I will not let them live under my God like shadow for the rest of their lives. I had one job and i did it and i will not let something that dangerous exist only because i want to be the "PURE HERO" in the story. I wont even trust myself in Controlling the Reapers because we can change as a person in every given moment, what about eternity? Will you be the same Shepard after 500 years? 2000 years? Imagine what horrible events you might witness that can totally make you into another being. Also i won't take the word of the Catalyst, the very thing that tried to kill me 5 minutes ago but started negotiating when i was in reach of it's SHUT DOWN button. The Reapers poisoned the Galaxy long enough with their existence. Everything should end even the Reapers... Control is not so bad but it has more risks than people can imagine. Destroy is the more evil choice but it's better for the survivors in the long run.

To control the Reapers Shepard must die. If you`re willing to accept that then synthesis makes more sense. Then The Reapers help rebuild the world and the reason for the harvest is gone forever. There is no longer any significant difference between organic and synthetic life.

Strygger It’s old, but let me try explain a concept to you. The Reapers became stronger than the Leviathans, and evolved since it’s creation God knows how many times, after multiple harvests of the galaxy. It’s safe to asume if a “off switch” existed in the begining, one of the first thing to remove would be said buttom, for obvious reasons. And another thing, the solutions that the AI presented to Shepard was made for him, since the AI itself states that Shepard it’s a new variable, one that make those solutions possible. So a “off switch” would be a joke if you think about it. No offense intended bro, just trying to help. :-)

Well they didn't have you pick what ending you did at the beginning of Mass Effect Andromeda, or import ANYTHING (which I thought was stupid) so one can assume they are going to pick one of the 3 endings and make that canon. Which is going to piss a lot of people off, since 2/3 of the ME:3 choices won't be canon anymore. I'd assume they will go with a non-perfect Destroy ending, since Shepard would be dead 600 years ahead anyway, and the Reapers should get defeated since that is like...the driving force of the original series.

Andromeda is a soft reboot. Everything happened the way they did, except the choices which gave alternative solutions are left unknown. We probably will never know what really happened since the crew of the Andromeda project have no way of knowing either. Unless they make it so that the main characters decides to head back to the Milky Way in the "Mass Effect 3" of the Andromeda reboot. I personally just want them to go back to the Milky Way and explore what has happened after 600 years since ME3. They could make the storyline play according to the possible choices you made in ME1-3.

Indeed. [SPOILERS] If you go through all the conversation options, the Child/Reaper emmisary practically gives away the answer that Destroy was the best option. It says synthesis didn't work in prior cycles because most of the people did not want it forced upon them. And who thinks the reapers will just let a human/milky way inhabitant simply take control...? HAH yeah right! They would only initially give an illusion that the Shepard would be in control. "But what about the Geth?"... They uploaded themselves into the Quarions' computers and suits, essentially giving them all personal AI assistants while the Geth continue existing and discovering as software programs until they're ready to transition to mobile platforms.

Thanks a lot man, I did a great effort and multiple playthroughs to achieve my perfect ending and at the end I chose the green ending but It felt wrong... All that effort and I'm as the player got indoctrinated and I helped synthetics to win by fusing with us... Tried nearly every romance option on various plays. Tali is my fav. Although FemShep has a hankering for Liara. I like Garrus as my favourite character, his comments are the best. Second was Mordin, i took him on every away mission. That moment when you tell Tali how you feel and she gets all flustered...or if you take Legion to Tali's trial (because i'm an awkward bugger). Best moment...too many, but a stand out is the intro to the first game, i was so excited. Just started a ME1 fresh playthrough, going to make some different choices and mix it up a little.

"missed opportunity" or just pointless, character breaking nonsense. You've been through so much together with your entire crew, ideally everyone survived a literal suicide mission back in ME2. Everyone back then knew what they were signing up for, knew there was a high chance of none of them making it back out alive. and everyone respected that. there was no "please don't go, it's too dangerous!". Having your romance option break into a struggle / fist fight over an option *you* took, a decision *you* made, would just throw disrespect on that decision, on that option. Everyone knew Shepard made the choice, everyone knew there's a high chance of Shepard not coming back. If anything, your romance option knew that better than anyone. And they still let you go regardless.

well considering technically shepard "did" survive and andromeda takes place 600 years after ME3 and there is no mention of when/how shep died post ME3 in andromeda i'd speculate to say shep will make some other sort of cameo aside from the memory fragments and N7 armor wether it be more voiced dialogue from femshep/broshep or maybe even ryder meeting shep face to face in some future DLC........ but that's just personal speculation and hopes so dont quote me on it and take it with a grain of salt

Ruby Rachel The Mass Effect team has already stated the trillogy is Shepard's story full-circle. Andromeda and onward is new character territory, they decided this especially with how shitty a team EA gave them for ME3 and how EA twisted everyrhing on its head. For those who don't have the means to have the expansion dlc to enable the extended ending, this game sucked ass. Yes, for the last part of Shepard's storyline it was still done decently... Not the best it could be though. Those of you who haven't played Andromeda yet, Shepard does have a spoken about cameo as does Garus, his father Castius and Dr. Liara T'soni.

What bothers me more is the rubble he is covered in. The citadel and crucible blew up in space so how did he have air to breathe? Citadel and crucible are made out of metals yet shepard is covered in concrete like rubble AND on a downhill. It just really brings the indoctrination theory back to my head. That shepard never entered citadel and by choosing destroy shepard resists the indoctrination attempt and wakes up in the rubble he was shot by harbinger
