We are too busy playing videogames instead of researching scientific breakthroughs. Imagine if all the money spent by humans on videogames went to public access scientific lab equiptment and the wages of scientists and security guards who could oversee these facilities to make sure nobody vandalizes/damages the equipment and nobody does any experiments where the stuff could blow up. Then the count less hours kids play videogames could instead be devoted towards learning and experimenting and the advancement of mankind. Many scientific breakthrough have occured in recent years from kids/teenagers having access to university lab equipment where their parents work. One example was a disease (iirc malaria ) testing device a kid invented that lowers the cost of testing from hundreds of dollars to less than 1 dollar.

Nope They are travelling to Andromeda to set up a new colony for all the races so that they don't face extinction (It's like a backup plan if something goes wrong at the milky way like overpopulation or like the Reapers. The Arcs depart 2185, so literally just after ME2. Sheperd is in Jail due to working with Cerberus and no one really believes that the reapers are a thing. Plus this was started 9 years ago (2176) so unless she spoke to Leviathan before Shepard did then Theory is highly unlikely.

Actually you have plenty of time to do your master's degree. Counting fuckload of DLCs that will follow during the after release year and all discount from the Steam you can easily postpone this game. In year and a half this game will be way better and way cheaper that you can have immediately after the launch.

Betelguese Harvenheit Discount isn't main reason. DLCs are. Biowear tend to make shitload of this stuff stretched all over the following year or even longer. And IMHO this amount of DLCs make huge impact on the game. It fells completely different.

I remember watching this for the first time and being so excited for Andromeda. I had watched the first 3 Mass Effect playthroughs on KZbin and couldn't wait for this to come out. This trailer made the game look legendary. The soundtrack, the graphics (yeah it's my own fault for believing these were the graphics. It even says not actual gameplay at the end but still). And then the game released. And yeah... it wasn't the experience I was hoping for -_-

Since you are the humans path finder, she is saying you are representing humanities future, and maybe they probably do the same announcement for other species saying how they are the "Krogans fighting for the future" and such. Basically it's a initiation video telling you are selected to represent the humans in the andromeda initiative. It's like when you go to high school/college as a freshman and before school starts they have an assembly saying how you are the future and the class graduating 2016 or something. It's not like there aren't other grades in that place of education, they are just speaking to your group specifically.... get it?

Well, my theory's confirmed! This orientation video is indeed an exact schedule on the topics for all six videos. The first was of course the orientation, the second was the Ark and Nexus overview, and the third one will be about the Tempest and Nomad (which I found out from a tweet by the Mass Effect Team). But when the videos are released is still a little rusty. I guess I can assume once a month, since the orientation was released in november, the nexus was released in december, and now this next one will be in january. But considering we still have three more, that would mean the last video would be released on April, a whole month after the game's release. Best guess, this means we might get to Initiative videos in one month, and perhaps the final one on opening day.

the arks must've left inbetween me2 and 3, so the passengers of the arks have no clue of the events in me3. cant wait to play this, gonna miss the old crew, especally tali and garrus (I'm Garrus Vakarian, and this is now my favorite spot on the Citadel) lol my farvorite line from garrus, but anyways its sad they crashed into a unknown planet at the end, i wonder wtf happend to them after that, but im excited about this because its a new/fresh beginning for the game.

Quick guess, The Arks can work as Mass effect relays. Plan is to redistribute Milky way Races in other quadrants of space due to the damage left by the Reapers.Then Hook them all up again. I May be wrong, but that would explain how there are clearly other races from original trilogy in the cinematic trailer, despite this one saying each Ark contains a different species.

This is way better for the story than the main trailer I hate how the trilogy's story ended and I wish they could try again someday, but this looks really interesting and as long as they can stay away from mentioning Reapers and Shepard, it could be great. I just really hope the writing is up to par, this Andromeda Initiative stuff needs a lot of well thought out lore behind it.

Very excited, but saddened as well. The Andromeda Initiative leaves around the time of Mass Effect 2, so that means the Krogans haven't been cured of the Genophage, the Geth most certainly won't be along for the ride (likely no quarians either, since the galactic community still regards them as pests at this point)... Plus no chance of any characters we know and love coming along since we encountered them all at some point in Mass Effect 3

All that stuff may still happen. For all we know, the Helius cluster is a land of hidden wonder (which may be what 'Tempest' implies if you know Shakespeare) and we may get a supercanon of Krogan always surviving eventually due to some cure in Helius, and Geth and Quarians always getting to exist, even if potentially nearly eradicated from the Reaper War. Its kinda a cop out, but I'll take it, and it'd still mean many centuries of pain for the krogan/quarians/geth/etc depending on choices. Quarians could stow away (even if not at population replacement levels) and Geth exist in code.

You guys remember the original first look trailer for Andromeda? We saw CERBERUS Kodiaks - plus the Initiative begins at the same time as Shepard's association with Cerberus...I'm guessing cerberus will have a somewhat huge role to play as either anti-heros/antagonists in Andromeda. I doubt that any cerberus operatives that left milky way together with the Arks (or after them) would be indoctrinated, so there is a possibility that we can expect some level of cooperation with them in the Andromeda galaxy.

Signing up was nothing special. It's just a way for EA to send you updates and information about their games. This video has been up on the website for hours. You can watch it and unlock points that go toward unlocking an exclusive helmet (presumably for in-game use). So it's pretty cool, but there's no other significance to signing up.

One ay trip... Sounds like the Omega 4 relay journey in Mass Effect 2. Now that was EPIC! That entire mission gave me the chills with the soundtrack dialouges and much more. Hands down the best ME game. So Andromeda, you have pretty high bar to surpass. I suggest you do just that. Also this Andromeda Initiative sounds like a military/army sign-up for sivilians/gamers.
