This ship is equipped with some rather different weaponry compared to the Star Trek Universe.
Can the USS Lakota defeat it?

The real game-changer was how the repair crews could respond to damage. The Lakota could deploy its engineers quickly while the Normandy had no chance. Why? Because turbolifts vs the slowest elevator in gaming history!

Also, Lakota has transporters, plus drones. More to the point, Trek ships firepower STARTS in hundreds of Megatons range... meanwhile Reaper weapons top out at 450 kilotons. Even a low ball estimate of a photon torpedo being set to 64 Megaton output, mere 20 Megatons would easily destroy a Reaper... nevermind the Normandy SR-2.

I thought photon torpedoes were 25 isotons (and quantums were 50), deliberately using a made-up metric to avoid real-world comparisons. Like how Star Trek computers operate based on gigaquads.

If you are referring to the episode of DS9 "Paradise Lost" Obrien says Their phasers have been upgraded and that it was alot of firepower for an Excelsior class ship. He doesn't mention the shields at all

Reaper loses... badly. Heck, UFP ships weapons ranges start in hundreds of megatons and have been seen to go as high as Teraton level. Meanwhile, Reapers top out at 450 kilotons. There's no way a Reaper would be able to do any damage to a Starfleet ship, let alone a Borg cube

I'd have to say that turned a little differently than I thought. The SR2 only had particle beam weapons as a possible upgrade in the games salvaged from Reaper tech and those were devastating in Mass Effect but it was essentially a primitive phaser array so I would think that torpedoes would be less effective against ME barriers while phasers the go to in a fight.

Wasn’t a particle beam weapon, it was quite literally molten metal accelerated to significant speeds; ST torpedoes are antimatter based, they would likely overwhelm any kinetic barrier being used - they’re meant to overwhelm ST shields, which are more powerful navigational deflectors (used to protect the ship from relativistic impacts hitting it during impulse/warp).

@@BC-dn6oq The Thanix fires a stream of highly energized atomic particles made of iron, uranium, and tungsten to bypass barriers and disrupt the physical hulls of its targets. That makes it a particle beam weapon, not a mass accelerator. If Thanix was just a mass driver that would make it no different or distinct from the normal weapons used on any other warship in the franchise.

@@Quan10Mack IDK where you got your info from, but the below is lifted from ME’s Codex entry on the Thanix: “Contrary to popular belief, Sovereign's main gun was not a directed-energy weapon. Rather, its massive element zero core powered an electromagnetic field suspending a liquid iron-uranium-tungsten alloy that shaped into armor-piercing projectiles when fired. The jet of molten metal, accelerated to a fraction of the speed of light, destroys targets by impact force and irresistible heat.” The fact that the Thanix is described as shaping the stream into projectiles means it’s a kinetic weapon. It’s literally just a fancier water jet cutter. A DEW damages things using highly focused energy, without the need for solid projectiles. Let’s not forget that Collectors actually use particle weaponry; now those MIGHT be effective against ST shields. But to what degree, is unknown.

Honestly in terms of combat abilities I think that most Star Trek ships would one sidedly dominate anything from mass effect. There was an episode of ds9 where a cardassian flees bombarded a planet and the fleet coordinator said it would take 2 hours to destroy the surface of the planet and another 7 to destroy the mantle. 9 hours for roughly 20 ships to destroy an amount of mass greater than our moon. Nothing in mass effect has firepower that compares.

@@SubLordHawk yeah, Star Trek and Star Wars are incorrectly classified as science fiction, they are space operas. Stories like the expanse or battle star Galactica are better examples of science fiction. Whenever one of the hero ships needs to do a thing the character(s) will chant about tech-tech or the force to manifest the thing the ship needs to do. However when comparing feats of how powerful these ships are, they all end up with absurdly devastating weapons.

Not sure if you're using a Joystick when flying these ships, but the Normandy would definitely benefited. Agility is a strength that ship had in spades. Medium range, zig-zag those torpedoes, and try to fly into the blind spots.

I would say that the Normandy has got the same role as the Defiant-class or at least the way that the USS Defiant was used. That would probably be a better match-up.

The Normandy couldn't possibly go up against any Trek ships... or the Reapers. The Reaper weapons top out at 450 kilotons... Starfleet weapons go from dozens of Megatons to Gigatons and also Teraton levels. In short, even a phaser or photon torpedo set to mere 20 Megatons would be about 44x stronger than a Reaper weapon.

well, depending on the mass of the ammo from the thanix cannons, the joules/force would penetrate lakota's shields and destroy the lakota at one shot. especially if the ammo had the same mass of 5 inch gun from an arleigh burke destroyer....

So this is an AU version of a Normandie, since Mass Effect ships don't have shields. One phaser hit ought to have killed it, one torpedo hit at most. Mass Effect ships are very primitive compared to Trek ships.

no, Mass effect DOES have shields, in fact you can upgrade the Normandy to better shields in ME2. Mass effect shields are geared more towards kinetic weaponry, hence them being less effective against energy weapons but not solid rounds like in mass effect. also I disagree with one phaser being able to kill it, after all the SR1 did last against the collector ship for a short time whilst being inferior to the SR2.

A big problem with how this mod handles the Normandy: She doesn't have shields, she has kinetic barriers, which do literally nothing to stop energy weapons. She also does NOT have a cloak, she has internal heat sinks for emissions. Which works as a cloak in Mass Effect because detection is often passive; ships are detected by heat emissions. Federation sensor systems are active, working like subspace radar. Normandy cannot hide. Also , even upgraded Normandy's weapons don't really threaten Lakota -and this version isn't even using those upgrades. Stock Normandy is armed with basically small plasma torpedoes and lasers. And as we know, lasers can't even penetrate the navigational deflector. The plasma torpedoes can do real damage, but are pretty small by star trek standards. Lakota could carve Normandy up with phaser fire long before the plasma weapons become a major threat.

@@deksroning125 I was limiting myself to normandy's capabilities as she is presented here i.e before the retrofit of the thanix cannon. But yes, the reaper's main gun which in Mass effect is a terrifying weapon that easily cuts enemy starships in half, is for Lakota a dense if not particularly energetic cloud of space dust indistinguishable from any other that her navigational deflector would mitigate as part of normal operation. People who make mods for this game don't seem to understand how crazy advanced Star Trek technology actually is

You have to go to the official link and buy the game. You also can pirate it but its difficult to do since they always take down the pages and there are a lot of pages with virus. But yes you can just test it first on a virtual machine to ensure that it doesn't have any viruses if you can't afford the game.

There's no version of M.E. ships that can take on Star Trek ships. The disparity in technology and firepower output is ridiculous. ME ships firepower ranges in low kiloton range (the Reapers top out at 450 kilotons). Trek ships go from hundreds of Megatons to Gigatons and to Teraton level yields. Even a low level phaser shot would decimate a freaking Reaper... let alone the Normandy.
