Mass Effect - Unreleased DLC

This is music I wrote for a DLC (downloadable content) for Mass Effect 1. However, BioWare ceased all work on the DLC and the music was never officially sold and used anywhere, so up on KZbin it goes!
I can't/won't say what the DLC was, as I'm not really allowed to talk about it. Not to mention they may revive something similar, plot-wise, for a Mass Effect 2 DLC. You never know.

It was a Caleston DLC , it was supposed to be a Day One DLC or shortly after release. Many files in the first game is full with the strings "DLC_Caleston" or "DLC_Mars". Also a guy said years back that it was leaked on Xbox Live for a short period of time. Too bad it was scrapped. So curious to see the mining facilities with Liara's recruitment

+Horváth Gábor that stuff was actually intended in the core game and it was cut down to the therum mission....much of the content on the original caleston was reused in bring down the sky....the dlc that was cut involved cerberus and experiments being performed and it was your mission to figure out what they were doing and stop it...this later served as the base for what would later become overlord.

+ultimatepedrodude330 But they still wanted to make Caleston as a DLC in some form. It wasn't Bring Down The Sky. Merging BDTS and Caleston came after scrapping the seperate Caleston DLC. But I agree, Overlord fits more into ME1 then into ME2

+Horváth Gábor The final fight location in Bring Down the Sky is repurposed content from Caleston. Most of the planet's surface was kept intact on Therum....Just the hub was removed...which was the final fight locale in BDtS There are sources cited on the Mass Effect Wiki and it's been widely known for some time. The only thing that didn't make it in was the "seedy bar", which later served as the base for Afterlife in Mass Effect 2. One thing to keep in mind about the ME team. If they can repurpose something they never got around to using, they will. Based on the image used in this vid (which is not identical to the Minuteman Station image in ME2), I'm guessing Minuteman Station was an idea they were throwing around as a possible location for the Cerberus DLC and the Final Hours of Mass Effect 3 suggested a planet known as Misery. I guess by the time they got to ME2, they just made Minuteman Station a place to meet TIM and Misery became Aite in the Overlord DLC. Hell even the driving around in the Hammerhead...it screams (another planet for the Mako to drive around in)...just never worked out that way.

+ultimatepedrodude330 If you look at the formula for how Overlord plays out...it's similar to BDtS albeit more sophisticated due to Bioware's access to more resources...three bases (Hermes, Prometheus, Vulcan). Very much like the torch installations in BDtS. You can tell they were going for that with some Cerberus people on the planet (Gavin Archer) and they got to revisit it later (which was nice.)

Despite being intended for another storyline, by being used as the main theme for the Legendary Edition is genius. It fits perfectly the drama the danger and the threat of the unknown that Mass Effect delivers. Tyy Sam Hulick for the feeling. I keep listening to this song whenever possible

This track is so good that it's almost depressing: consider the fact that it'll never be used. Not that it would make any difference, but it's a shame that you can't even say anything about what DLC that this track was to be used for.

There was going to be a second DLC pack for Mass Effect featuring Cerberus and an experiment they were working on. It was to take place on a planet known as Misery. Sounds very similar to a certain DLC we got in Mass Effect 2. Just swap out Misery for Aite =]

The real name of this track is "Ghost Ship" and it's about the pictured above Cerberus station. I guess they just left that part for Mass Effect 2.

Hey errbody. Do any of you recognize the station shown in this video, the Minuteman station Jacob and Miranda takes you to after you wake up, as the same (or very similar to) as the one shown at the end of ME1, after choosing who joins the council, when you walk off and then are shown standing in front of a space station and a planet? the planets are identical and the station looks to be partially redesigned, but still retains the basic shape. It seems Cerberus was there at the end of ME1.

This sounds like it would fit quite nicely with the Arrival DLC. Considering the screenshots suggest that some of the DLC will take place on a space station, and this song seems to fit a "Space station battle".

If you're talking about Caleston then I'm almost positive that was not a DLC, it was just a cut planet from the game that's technically still IN the game, it's just the map was removed, same with the missions that were within in, but you can actually see the world in the game and still read the planetary description.

Illusive Man is still a General in a way lol the head general. And yes this is highly likely Cerberus DLC. the final hours of mass effect 3 revealed one additional thing cut. Cerberus mission where you go to a planet known as Misery to stop human experimentation. So will we get to visit misery in mass effect 3? perhaps. Would be pretty awesome if they kept the music as well

Funny...I never knew what it was like to have my ears made love to...until I heard this track. What's even better is i have yet to get tired of listening to this track and the Bring Down the Sky track with all of the layer turned on.

chiffmonkey Partially that. But also, I think after the facelift the old DLC idea got, Overlord was the result. Bioware is known for repurposing unused stuff. Just like how the original Caleston hub was used as the final fight location in Bring Down the Sky. Wouldn't be surprised if some of the scrapped DLC was used in Pinnacle Station as well as ME2 and Overlord.
