Here's another fun fact: If you wait until after you're officially sworn in as a Spectre THAN talk to Chorban, your dialogue upon selecting "Let me help" changes. Shephard says that as a Spectre he doesn't have to worry about the authorities getting upset over his actions. Chorban then agrees quickly saying that as a Spectre Shephard is above the law.

This is classic bioware quest design. You see this in Baldurs Gate, DA:Origins, and Jade Empire. I don't think they will ever return to this form. I can hope I guess.

I've yet to finish either game, despite starting each at least three times. For me, it makes the game too large- almost to the point of being daunting- when I play primarily for the story.

FYI, if you’re hoping to use the Paragon/Renegade speech check on this, it’s one of the toughest for this early in the game (the other is Jenna’s mission). I generally first resolve the Asari Consort assignment, then the Hanar preacher, then any other outstanding assignments before attempting either Jenna’s or Jahleed’s. I usually save Jahleed’s for last before heading on to the Normandy.

I try to resolve Jahleed and Chorban’s conflict after I scan all the keepers. I usually end up letting them keep the data mostly because I agree with the idea of wanting to learn more about the keepers. It doesn’t really lead to anything in the later games but in my head canon Chorban and Jahleed finished researching the data sometime during the two year time gap in Mass Effect 2 and somehow figured out they were created by the Reapers. I can imagine the two of them protesting on the Citadel saying “Shepard is right!” or “The Council is lying!”

How fun the story evolving around this mission about scanning the Keepers is.. It gives you some exp and credits.. Nothing more nothing less.. It has absolutely no ramifications for either Mass Effect 2 or 3.. Not even for ME1 for that matter. After you scanned the final Keeper you immediately get your exp and credits and the quest is marked as finished.

Another thing: scanning all the keepers is a nice xp/money boost early in the game when you need it 😸. Did you already make a video showing where to find them all? I sort of have it memorized, but I know others would really be able to use that!

In hindsight, using the citadel as the seat of galactic power was kind of stupid, call me paranoid, but I have a hard time trusting things I don't understand and these keepers would be almost as much of a deal breaker as the perfection of the citadel itself.

You figure scanning the keepers would give you a huge advantage later in stoping the reapers from activating the keepers to open the stations mass effect gate to them. But nope.

I always complete this quest, resolve the issues between the two friends (as I accept the Keeper quest in the Council chamber) and scan the Keepers for easy money and XP even if I am level 60 now, considering how closely tied to the game story with the revelation by Virgil I expected that this quest played a part in ME3, it would have helped if after the mess of Thessia those two came to you on the Citadel and you found the Star Child chambers after Horizon. Then as you are making plans for the Cerberus HQ we go to Illos first and leave a group lead by Garrus to Illos and use the Conduit if things go south (which we know they do) and then we head back to the Cerberus HQ. Things go south but Garrus and his team are able to advance into the Council Chamber where they attempt to open the Citadel arms but can't as it needs to be done in other location. They make their way toward the Star Child room and open the arms, then they run into TIM who freezes them forcing Shepard to have his Speech battle and if he loses Garris and the others die but if he won they live and TIM shoots himself. As Shepard is going on the Normandy we disembark on the Citadel and fight our way to the team. We could even bypass the London battle but only if things were done well.

When they claim that they were the first...I continue to think about the protheans that altered the signal of the keepers when they figured that keepers were the ones that enabled the invasion ease for the the reapers so than when that happened the invasion didnt happen and then woolah mass effect 1 is made because sovereign is trying to activate the citadel that the keeps normally did but vouldnt because of the intervention of the protheans.

Biggest pain is the trophy/achievement on the OG trilogy to complete a truckload of quests with a specific squadmate. Do this and the rest of the citadel sidequests before recruiting liara and you cant get it period. Always hated that

Usually, I do side missions on the Citadel when I received my Spectre status (considering the fact that you must use Paragon/Renegade options to complete said side missions. Still, I would have liked to see more consequences in regards to the Keepers as they are the most mysterious and unusual species of the entire Trilogy.

IIRC, the scanning quest only gets a mention in ME2. Chorban will send Shepard an email saying they've analyzed the scan data you provided. He'll excitedly write that it looks like the keepers are waiting for some kind of signal.

I kind of liked Chorban and wish he and the Keepers were done better by Bioware in the sequels. Truth is, his death scene actually hurts more than any of Wrex's, and a lot of that has to do with whoever voiced Chorban.

I almost always am Paragon hostile against Chorban and refuse to scan for him after i did all the scanning because he wanted to assassinate Jahleed (or at least take the data) AND I take a very aggressive paragon approach to Jahleed and let him get away with it because it is way too important to totally destroy.

You only need to scan 20 keepers actually to finish it. The 21st one is more a bonus.

Whatever happened to the 21st Keeper on the Legendary Edition ? Still remember looking everywhere for it on the original game before giving up and heading for the Normandy, and there is was. The LE escaped a lot of criticism purely on the grounds of it being modern, but I’m still not comfortable with the uncanny valley humans and Asari, and do miss the ominous orange sky of Eden Prime. Maybe a mini Thresher Maw to go with the hamster , husk head and fish for the captain’s cabin ???

I usually play the getting them back to work route, and never any other, but I wonder if it changes anything in ME2 or ME3. I know from the previous route I mentioned I.E. the get them back together and back to work, I get an email from Chorban mentioning the every 50,000 years signal thing was due. I wonder if that changes based on the choices you make with this mission, or if it just doesn't show up at all(if you don't complete/kill Chorban/Jail Jahleed etc. etc.)

@@luisemoralesfalcon4716 it doesn't because the Keepers are constructs, they basically look like an insect but there working androids, but unlike the Reapers or the Geth there not true sentient AI beings. the Reapers are sentient beings that live out in dark space, but every 50,000 years the Reapers wipe out all organic life. the Prothians are the ones who build the Citadel, but the Relay Momument is connected to dark space. so in a sense the Keepers are how the reapers can come in, since they work on the primary core in the citadel, the Relay Monument is connected to it. it's like a gateway, but it was the perfect way for Sovereign to come into the Citadel undetected. since the Keepers don't communicate with any species, that's why no one could sense the danger of a possible reaper.

Because if you aren't you would know that the Protheans didn't built the Citadel or Mass Relays and they only built the Conduit which is connected with its one way counter part on Illos. That secret Prothean lab lead them time to develop a program (which Virgil gives you) to take control of the Citadel away from Sovering. In ME3 TIM gives that control back to the Reapers (which is a massive Mass Relay in of itself and one of the links between the Milky Way and Dark Space) to have the confrontation above Earth.
