I chose a female character and the male partner I wanted to end up with happened to be gay, this fact wasn't flaunted, the dude was an ordinarily cool individual that I genuinely wanted to partner my character with and I didn't find out that fact until it came up naturally as part of the story I was working through. Just like the fashion industry's demographic will be predominantly female. And I have to also confess that the true female fans of comics (like me) don't want the wheels reinvented. We are happy with Batman for example being a straight billionaire white man. We accept him and love him the way he is. We don't want an "M-SHE-U". We want an entertaining and well done MCU. Do you play video games? Do you read sci-fi and fantasy? Do you actually enjoy comic books, video games, sci-fi, and fantasy? Do you enjoy them enough to buy merchandise (toys, t-shirts, coffee mugs, posters, etc.)? If the answer is "no" to any of those questions, they shouldn't be developing scripts for those genres. Period. The person doing the writing is the creator. They should be the MOST knowledgeable and passionate about those creations. Don't give those jobs to someone who just wants to collect a paycheck and checks some HR DEI box. Worse, don't give those jobs to someone who dislikes the genres and despises their fanbases.

The real fun question to imagine: was it the auditors who insisted on this statement of Woke political risk? Was it Disney's attorneys advising them to make this disclosure to ward off investor lawsuits? Or was it Disney management itself acknowledging reality? One way or another... spirited discussions *were had* before they included this language of material risk.
@OutLanderUSN11 ай бұрын
Businesses have to make statements to the SEC every so often regardless; it's standard practice and required by law. It was likely the lawyers trying to ward off the shareholders with the way they worded it, by once again doubling down on it being the audience that is wrong and not the company itself. There has to be a breaking point though and they need to hold the company accountable.

Another problem with all this is that people watch fantasy to get away from existing world concerns & to be constantly reminded about political correctness does completely the opposite of that, it destroys the illusion.

My first issue with The Marvels movie is that it is NOT in anyway shape or form based on the Marvels mini series by marvel Comics. So going way off script as it were is an issue for me let alone the blatant wokeness
@Sarcastro_7811 ай бұрын
Women alone could make The Marvels a success. They don't want to. And, Disney can't force men to unless we establish some sort of social credit system that requires you see these. Oh no, I've said too much. I once heard someone say, "Wow, this is a really a great film. The cast is so diverse!" That was all that seemed to matter to that viewer. The case is diverse = mission accomplished. When I saw Boogie Nights I said "Wow, writing, cinematography, acting, directing, what a great film!"

One thing about Critical Role: Mighty Nein origins is that the original creators are going to be heavily involved with that story. As in, they are not just the original players and originators of the characters, but also own and run Critical Role themselves, will be producing it themselves, and otherwise be heavily involved with developing their self-created IP. Unlike the rest of the projects mentioned, The Mighty Nein will be a work of love through and through. It will probably be the only bright star in that writer’s resume.

I love how they state they have to cater to the change in their viewer's tastes, yet their viewer's tastes hasn't changed. The Ideology of the company changed! The people are speaking with their wallets, and this is what Disney hates the most! People are not buying into their Bullshit, people do not want the "put a chick in it and make her lame and gay" mentality!

Ain't that the truth. My brother is gay. He played the new spider man game and instantly turned it off when he got to the gay shit and hasn't played it since. His reasoning was that he couldn't move the character. He was happy he got representation but he understood why people who don't care, and aren't gay, would be annoyed about it. Because the game is essentially forcing you to be a part of something you aren't interested in, don't care about or are against. It's ham fisted to the umpteenth degree. If it can annoy a gay dude, I hate to imagine how the non gay crowd felt about it...

I like how they talked about how our interest or taste can change so quickly when we all love original stories that have been around for so long (like the hobbit that has been around since the 30s or Star Wars since the 70s) good writing will always be loved and that doesn’t change. Logic is logic, it’s not some free spirit that changes based on what’s “trending”

The only Disney I can still hold near and dear to my heart is the old classic Disney and even up into at least the 2016 with Zootopia being the last good animated film they made and Marvel when it was good before woke with this crap they’ve gotten themselves into thanks to Bob Iger’s spending that went out of control. I’m trying to remain optimistic but it’s next to impossible and I’m sure Walt Disney and his brother Roy would be beyond appalled at what has happened to their company.

While I agree with everything you're saying, I don't necessarily agree with the Spider-Man 2 examples. The mission with the old man remembering his wife and the one with Howard also took control away from you at certain points, but those are some of the best side missions in the game imo. He's the "friendly neighborhood Spider-Man", not the "fight everything in sight Spider-Man" so these plain side missions made sense. I do agree that the homecoming side mission was a bit too long though...
