Take if from an ex Air Force communications specialist that spent many an hour in front of military spec AM/FM tuners. This is not a mandate for entertainment but a safety issue. AM broadcasts are in a low frequency bandwidth that are comparatively speaking in today's world are inexpensive to set-up and broadcast. That is why no matter where you go in the country , even in remote areas you find AM radio that goes out 25 -50 miles and more at night. You can still get an am radio for 15-20 bucks. The gov't uses AM stations for emergency broadcasts of tornadoes, hurricanes, floods , and other emergencies as do the local stations. Losing am radio means losing a vital part of the emergency network notification. I can get into wave propagation but that would bore you more than I have already.

Yes, lots of conservatives in rural America use AM for religious and talk radio. Maybe in those parts of the country they’ll keep it. A lot of phone calls that never returned my calls, some scam attempts or just shady dealings. But I got it done Learned a lot from this and a few other channels on how to deal with dealers and sales managers. I had 2 final participants with the Jeep I wanted. One refused to budge and lost a sale over 300$ The other where I got my Jeep, jumped all over that deal when I told em how close the other guy was. Best part, it was same dealership but a different location an hour away rather than the local dealership. Some of these sales managers are STUPID. Talking about you Tom Smith in PA. he cost a good salesman, an honest and the rare fair salesman, a sale cause he would not drop down by 300$. I will 100% use that salesman in the future, just not through that Jeep dealership and Tom Smith the sales manager so long as he is running things.

As cars are designed and built to be longer-lasting (and I think that's a _good_ thing), then a given sized driving population doesn't NEED as many of them built each year. I think that can go a long way to explain the flat-ish production volume curves in recent decades.

Nissan sales is flattish worldwide. New car sales is sluggish world-wide across most brands, and in 2024 inventory levels are much higher compared to 2023, incentives increased, and average transaction price declined due to higher living costs and interest rates. It's a challenging market condition because materials, components, shipping, utilities, and labor cost is about 20-30% higher than 5 years ago. And there are more sensors, cameras, semiconductor, software, and infotainment than previous generation models. To compensate for higher costs automakers need to raise their sales prices but consumers are not able to keep up because wages and purchasing power hasn't kept up with higher input costs. Many consumers believe that car prices are too high, while automakers think it's too low considering the cumulative inflation and more tech/software. Consequently, profit margins are squeezed and automakers have no choice but to cut costs. Chinese automakers willing to sell cars at a loss doesn't help either.
