I had to look up the word "hessian" because I never heard of it before. I've always called it burlap and I love the smell of it!! I first learned how to embroider on it when I was a kid so it brings back such awesome memories. My dad used to refer to the fabric as "gunny sack" and used it to cover grass seed until it grew. Words and word origins are fascinating. Can't wait to try this with my overabundant fabric collection! Thanks, Tina! Another great session and always look forward to seeing which ring you are going to wear. You have the coolest rings!!
@shabbydabbydoodah3 жыл бұрын
Lol, yes I hadn't realised until I started doing videos and then hearing in the comments that apparently what we called hessian is burlap in the US, I much prefer the term burlap actually. Oh what a wonderful idea to embroider on it, I have never thought of that . Yes, aren't words and origins just fascinating? I love that he called it "gunny sack", that just sounds cool. Yes, we all have an overabundant fabric collection I think! Lol. Thank you, I just love my junky rings x

Hi Tina, these toppers are great! I can’t wait to see how you finish them. I, too, struggle with the cover. I take forever to make decisions with covers. I loooove the yellow with the blue flowers fabric. I feel so bad for all kids going through this pandemic. I think they are suffering the most. I look at my Grandchildren and see how much they are affected and it breaks my heart. Hopefully when your son goes back to school he’ll feel some kind of normalcy coming back. The whole thing is just so hard. Now for something a little more light hearted. When you were talking about ironing I thought of one of my nieces. When she was about 4 or 5 years old, she asked Santa for an iron and ironing board for Christmas. My sister-in-law laughed when she told me about it. I was a bit confused and asked why that was so funny. She said, I don’t know how she knows what an iron and ironing board are because I don’t own either one of them and I don’t remember her ever seeing one 😂. Have a great day! Hugs 🤗
@shabbydabbydoodah3 жыл бұрын
Lol, oh that is so funny, let's hope your niece got that ironing out of her system before she got older! No one wants to be ironing! Honestly I only iron coffee dyed paper. A friend of mine irons her bedsheets and everything!!! Lol . Hope you're having a great day too x

I have to admit this was hard for me watch. I kept telling myself to just turn it off...but I couldn't. I had to see what color combinations you put together. These are so nice, they can be used as the base for embroideries or for fabric journals. Where did you get your upholstery samples? I like the idea of making just lots of bases and then doing the embellishments when the project is settled. I blame you for HTGAWM , it’s the most silly programme and each twist makes me laugh. And sex. And lies. Oy vey! as mum would have said. I had a tooth out last week - it had cracked. I’ve now got something called dry socket. Look it up. The pain is the worst pain I’ve ever had! I’m eating painkillers but you are a few minutes of relief in my day. The weather here is beautiful. I love the changing of the seasons as well. And Spring and Autumn. Take care 🥰
@shabbydabbydoodah3 жыл бұрын
Great idea to keep some of the bases and just decorate them up when you come to use them. I got my upholstery samples mainly from Laura Ashley when they were closing down. You can also get them in the Next Home stores. Yes, HTGAWM, it is very silly isn't it? Very Oy vey!!!! Lol, but really great to have something to watch with so many episodes, hours and hours of entertainment. Oh you poor thing, I remember having my wisdom teeth out, it was absolutely awful, when I came around from the anaesthetic I couldn't believe the pain! It was worse than childbirth! Haha. Seriously I hope it heals quickly. Yes, it feels sooooo good to see the pretty flowers and the sunshine. Take care x
