There are an estimated 35,000 police officers in the state of Illinois. They are exempt from registering their service weapons but are required to register their personal weapons. Their must be an injured party to make whole again or property damage to fix to make the injured party whole again. Administrative law/Arbitrary law is when the gov't, state or federal is always the injured party, Habeas corpus be damned. You didnt register your property, you injured the gov't. You didnt wear your seatbelt, you injured the state. You j-walked, you injured the gov't. You crossed state lines with an nfa item and didnt have gov'ts permission, you injured the gov't. You as a law abiding citizen hurt or injured NOBODY, Habeas corpus be damned, because the arbitrary law is you injured the state or federal gov't. Meaning you must make the gov't whole again by paying fines or thrown in prison to make the gov't whole again, without an actual injured party. Illinois has proven they are the injured party, Habeas corpus be damned.

Here is the process in New Jersey and it has been the same for decades: Foid application with state police and NICS checks, finger printing, mental health investigation, personal references and all of the accompanying fees then you wait for months for approval. Then to purchase a hand gun another app, more fees, state police and NICS checks, mental health check and personal references to the PD then wait for approval. The permit is per gun and is only good for 6 months and then you must start all over again if you want to buy another . For a concealed carry permit you must pay more application fees, more finger printing, personal references, state police and NICS checks, training requirements, registering the hand gun you intend to carry, specific holster requirements, and then wait for the PD to approve the app with a 2 year renewal that requires the entire process to be repeated and then you have the sensitive places to deal with. BTW, Only one gun can be purchased every 30 days and after all of the background checks you went through to get to the gun store you must pay for another state police and NICS check and wait days for the approval. PS: I'm sure I have left some things out! NO 2A ORGANIZATIONS EVER CAME TO NEW JERSEY TO STOP THIS UNCONSTITUTIONAL INFRINGEMENT UNTIL AFTER THE BRUEN DECISION and it is still going on with little change! The law suits are being sloooooow walked. IF YOU ARE A GUN OWNER STAY AWAY FROM NEW JERSEY.

Handguns and shotguns are included in this law. Not all FOID card holders own a black scary weapon. Most own an "illegal" handgun or shotgun and don't even know it. It's being promoted as an Assault Weapon AR type but it includes almost every semi auto weapon

I'm glad to see the non-compliance numbers still. The part that gets me and makes me think that the numbers are more skewed than we think is that the number of FOID card issuances hasn't changed in weeks, months even from when I started tracking this. So if we use the states logic, the number of FOIDs issued vs. The amount of people registered is not accurate. Regardless, I hold no grudges on the people who did register out of fear of repercussions. I applaud those who haven't to show that we the people still hold more power than the government will ever admit. The population standing together is something to be proud of regardless of what party affiliation you have.

How do they know a person owns one of these banned items? I don't own any weapons but can a person in Ilinois register their firearm after 1 Jan if they decide to without penalty? If they have a change of mind after the deadline can they still register them without penalty. Example: They register them on 1 Feb Or 1 March will the Ilinoiis say you were suppose to register them before 1 Jan and you will still be penalized..

No updates to that issue. More importantly, the state has made it impossible for you to "legally" possess an item purchased during freedom week. It's a bad situation for many people. The safest option is to get it out of the state until it gets sorted out in the courts.
