people saying this was a bad move- this was in the era of f1 when an overtake was incredibly more rare than these days. they overtake so often these days that they have enforced rules to make overtaking harder, such as leave a cars width and penalties for causing a collision and no more than 1 defensive move.

And DC cries and bitches when it happens to him He once bashed Michael Schumacher for that but it was clearly DC's own fault. When Schumacher went inside the corner, DC jerked the wheel over, bounced off of him and wound up in the gravel. That's why they never penalized Schumacher. I think it was in Brazil or Argentina.

Yeah, there was a window there between when he first started and was mowing the lawn most of the time and now when he's just slow that he actually was a proper F1 driver. I'm not a Ferrari or Massa fan but I'd be happy to see him at least on the podium again at some point.

@xXTheKidzlerXx go watch the BBC indian GP analysis. it is shown that Lewis planned to overtake there. Lewis and Massa were alongside before the braking zone, Lewis about one wheel behind and at the INSIDE. I would say at that point Massa was too late that he could defend. Massa himself said he then choose to run at the 'normal' line, which opened up the space for Lewis. It doesn't matter whether he THOUGHT he could CLEARLY out-brake Lewis, yet Massa had GIVEN Lewis the corner in that move.

@x420Raptor1 This was clearly DC's fault. Massa was beside him and had nowhere to go, DC forced him off the track (inwards) and directly caused the touch. Of course I am talking about the thing starting at 0:16.
@jakubkrcma
@jakubkrcma 13 жыл бұрын
@x420Raptor1 For example, a good thing would simply be to forget penalties and just order the breaching driver (in mild situations - no contact, no car damage, no crowding off the track) to let the victim driver overtake and not to try to repass him for a full lap or something. But of course this does not solve situations like LH vs FM at Suzuka, where car damage cannot be sufficiently compensated. There should also be a scheme for at least partial points in case of accidents caused by others.

@xXTheKidzlerXx THAT IS RACING mate!! To overtake where ur opponents not expected is THE POINT! And these overtake moves are exactly what Lewis is famous for, just as the one he overtook Vettel at turn 2. Lewis could have chosen a easier spot to overtake, but nowhere is impossible, why not?! I think mostly ARE accident, but for the indian GP I think Massa was out of his mind. *starting. Lewis is always tough racer, if Massa do it the tough way, he expects Lewis to go soft?! Guten tag! lol

@x420Raptor1 Well, Felipe was great until the accident. Post-accident Felipe is a watered down version. But before that, he fought Michael and Kimi EXTREMELY well. Of course, a huge part of that was his substantially lower weight and center of gravity, but still, those two are BLOODY hard to beat or even match in the same car. Ask Nico, Fisi, Luca, etc. Felipe's current problem is many other people's problem - Lewis Hamilton's on track conduct. Everybody makes mistakes, but Lewis overdoes that.

@x420Raptor1 In Malaysia, some say Lewis lifted off a little, causing the approach rate to jump. And on the straight, he did like 3 moves + 1 into the corner (which he repeated in Monza in front of Button, actually), MS only did 1+1 before the 1st Lesmo and Ascari. Alonso also did 3+1 at Monza. Of course some of Lewis' things are OK or normal for any driver, but he just needs to improve his perception of other people's position. Seb and Fernando should have gotten penalties (F Monza, S Suzuka).

OK in the 70's, 80's or 90's is no longer OK in 2011. For example, Vettel's probably innocent mistake (he told Jenson he genuinely thought he was behind, not beside) should have meant a penalty and so should Fernando's Monza crowding off the track of Seb. But guys from the "old, crazy, and suicidal" days think it's alright and let it happen... :-) There should be a thorough clarification of stuff, otherwise every race is judged ABSOLUTELY differently. DRIVING rules should be MUCH more specific.

@pcandyhk okay thats right but noone other overtook(?) at this place because normally you cant overtake there. it was clear that they would touch each other if Lewis would try to pass Massa. So Lewis could have wait for a better point because his car is faster than Massas. Other question: do you think it is by accident that they touch in almost every race? Sorry for any mistakes, I'm German.

@x420Raptor1 Felipe should have gotten a penalty at Monza for clearly pushing MW out (just like DC did to FM in this video). Another thing is that MSC only did one DEFENSIVE move per straight at Monza and when he moved back to the outside, LH was sufficiently behind - there was no way Lewis would have taken him on the outside both at the first Lesmo and Ascari, so the "second" move was not defensive (Michael's staying inside wouldn't change a thing). But Lewis and Fernando DID defend more than 1

Not even close to being sabotaged. Montoya came into F1 and was on two top teams, but was as likely to crash as win. Massa was a crasher, wasn't as quick as Schumi or Alonso and still almost won a WDC. Barrichello got a lot of wins and finished further up on points than his raw talent probably deserved by being Schumi's number 2. And if non European drivers were being sabotaged, explain Villeneuve's championship.

Massa had no right to be angry, he made two very stupid dives and wrecked both their races and had the nerve to flip DC off! He's done it more than once two, the most memorable being 2007 when he clouted DC off in the first race. Massa's decent but he really can't overtake very well.

@x420Raptor1 Just like in Malaysia 2010 vs Petrov, Lewis tried to break the follower's slipstream in Malaysia 2011 vs Alonso. Without that, the follower would very probably successfully overtake, so that was a series of defensive moves in that respect. This is about the spirit of Article 20.2 of the Sporting Regulations. The wording is pretty non-specific. The problem is VERY OFTEN that people from a COMPLETELY different era judge today's guys driving according to today's rules. What used to be

@x420Raptor1 His problems are not magnified. He has done something not very nice or appropriate basically every second grand prix weekend in F1. He has the speed of light, but the orientation of an old lady. And I am NOT against him in any way. He is a very passionate racer and a sensitive guy who will cry when things get extremely wrong or right, like Senna. I just see his areas for some massive needed improvement (in order to become the legend he can be).
