Massad also recommends TALKING TO POLICE after you're involved in a shooting. He thinks it is a good idea to try and convince the cops that you were the victim. He says talking to the police will persuade the cops that you were innocent, which will protect you from arrest and prosecution for murder. This contradicts the legal advice of EVERY DEFENSE ATTORNEY on planet earth who say you should not say a word to law enforcement after a shooting.

Wish I'd have done this when I first got into guns. I went thru numerous edc and full size 9mm handguns before settling on what I have now. Wish I'd have made better decisions when I first got into the hobby/sport and invested more time and money in ammo and training instead of just lusting after a new piece of hardware. I think it's an all-too-common issue in the gun community since we are constantly aggressively marketed at by gun companies trying to sell more guns instead of better guns.

Right on. Im in my 50s and my 1st gun was a Colt 1911 in 45 auto, hence I agree w Mas, I am habituated w that piece and very comfortable carrying a Colt Commander, in 45 auto w a Wilson mags and Galco Conceiable holster w Galco spare mag pouch for the standard load out. I have tried Glocks I own one, but since I also am "habitually" geared to the 1911 platform I stick with it. Many say the full size 1911 is big and weighty but does have a very slim profile. I am 5' 4" and carry it comfortably. Thanks Mas.

@@stewartsrcpo I agree. The gun that fits your hand, that you can shoot well is the one you're going to carry. My first pistol was a 1911, but I've owned some "wonder-nines" through the years. I just keep going back to the 1911 (Springfield Armory TRP). We are the same age, and I've got a touch of arthritis so the single action trigger is nice for me. I'm 6'2"/230 so recoil or carry isn't an issue. Go with what you like, and what you can shoot accurately.

@@bracoop2 you can hunt squirrels and birds with an air rifle in .17, .22, .25, or .30 cal and the ammo for air rifles is laughably more than 22lr. Air rifles are very powerful now. I have been following Mas since the early days of Combat Handguns Magazine. During my 27 year career in law enforcement which I recently retired from I referred back to his expertise many times. Thank You Mas!!! I would like to share with you my 5 gun lineup. 1: Black Aces Tactical Pro X Pump Combo 12 gauge. 2: Smith&Wesson M&P 340 .357 Magnum. My EDC Backup. 3: Wilson Combat EDC X9 9 mm. My EDC Primary that I switch with 4: Wilson Combat Ken Hackathorn Special Commander 9mm. 5: Wilson Combat Tactical Hunter 18" barrel in 300 HAM'R. I was required by my department to carry a S&W 5946 9mm On Duty and a S&W 3953 9mm backup off duty then went to Glock 19 Duty and Glock 26 backup off duty. Now that I am free to make my own choices this is what I chose. I think it is a pretty well rounded battery.

These five gun lists are very interesting, but I think they should be a little more standardized. Yours is very cop centric. For example is anyone going to have a list for general use that doesn't have a Ruger 10/22 on it? They might, but they're going to swap that 1022 up with a 9 mm carbine I'm guessing. That's the Paul Harrell thing: you want your pistol, Paul uses an M9, to be paired with a 16 inch barrel carbine. Then there's a masad with the semi-automatic shotgun. I'm sure it's a wonderful shotgun, and if the list is standardized for law enforcement or home defense use while sporting good stores are open, great. Pretty darn sure I prefer a pump action if the stores get sketchy though. See what I mean about standardizing lists? You really can't even compare unless the list is directly comparable. You at least have to preface your list with whatever societal infrastructure is in place.

I use to live in Montana and Colorado and got to know a few sheriff deputies in the counties where I lived. The counties were very large in land area and on most days there were no more than two to three deputies on duty. In each place deputies told me depending on their location at the time of a hot call it could take them up to an hour to get there running a 100 mph the entire route. In other words you better be able to fix your own problems in the west and southwest because your body or the assailants body will be cold by the time the calvary even arrives.

A Ruger 10/22 which has a can #5 And for only 1 pistol that id carry for urban AND woods i cant go with a 9mm, and WONT go with a .45 so #5 will have to be a 10mm for sure.

Maybe one gun 2 barrels could be permitted? Semi auto rifle turns into an sbr to replace the pcc? Probably not worried about over penetration in a scenario in which you are limited to 5 guns. If you're going into a situation where you need a more compact rifle, odds are you won't need the extra barrel length for long range precision. I'd probably keep a high capacity 9mm instead of 2nd 45...although I appreciate the reasoning. It might suck to need to source/carry ammo for 2 pistol calibers though. With a 45 and a 9 I might have to replace the backup gun with a 22. Tough choice.

@@thisismagacountry1318 No, I didn’t. All my handguns (I stopped counting how many I have) are chambered in 9mm for simplicity sake . I chose 9mm because of the high number of rounds that fit in a magazine, low recoil and cost of ammo. I’m a believer in accuracy over caliber size. Also, I have a smaller frame, so recoil is a big deal for me. What was surprising to me though is the S&W M&P 2.0 with an Apex trigger shoots as well for me as the VP9 and I like the grip texture better. It also eats all the cheap ammo I buy, just like the VP9. I’m heavily invested in the VP9 though, so I’ll continue to carry it, but I want to change the texture of the grip ASAP!

My third weapon is a shotgun 12 Gauge because of availability and my fourth weapon is an AR 15 that shoots 223 ammo since that’s also mostly available. There is a good possibility that even your neighbors have these types of rounds. I’ve noticed that 45 and 40 caliber ammunition are the most difficult and expensive to find.
