There’s a need for both … I converted over from a roller to a Theragun Pro .. loved it .. I ended up buying the Theragun peanut , lacross ball , and roller ( all vibrating devices ) .. what I found is they all serve a purpose and one does something the other can’t . I find rolling devices like the peanut , ball , or roller are better to hit areas harder and cover more surface area quicker. There are advantages of releasing muscles in different positions though. This is where a massage gun is useful . Example; rotator cuff ; standing right angle pec stretch on wall and your rotators are externally contracted . The massage gun targeting the muscles in that position has and advantage over rolling devices. Also collar bone areas , side of neck etc I like them all

I totally agree. I like having the option of having them all. I just find myself always grabbing the Massage Gun because sometimes I’m too lazy get on the floor or can’t use a roller in a car or something on a trip. If I had to pick one I’d probably pick up Massage Gun and then use a tennis ball 😂

I've had a roller for years but never use it. I've since ordered a massage gun so I hope the convenience factor will help me get some use out of it

It worked for me! It’s just more convenient in my opinion

I've got rollers, they serve their purpose, and I have The Stick, it's pretty good on my calves. The wife ordered the Medcursor Mini for my birthday, I'm excited to try it. My legs (especially soleus muscles) always need attention....

You’ll love it. Not sure why but it feels way easier to use so you’ll use it more often too. I’ve also used a Stick and love it for my IT Band, but with massage guns I keep up with maintenance so I don’t even use that stuff as much. 👍💪

I know I'm late lol but I have a question. Which one would be better for calves?

Foam rollers are definitely superior, especially for the lower body, due to their effect on releasing trigger points and fascia. I use the foam roller once a week for a slow, deep tissue release which you can't get from a percussion instrument. However, massage guns are great to activate the receptors in the muscles and tendons prior to working out.

Agree. For deep work, if you make the time foam rollers can be clutch. I definitely felt as I can stay up to recovering with Massage Gun’s more often I don’t need the foam roller as much

@Tommy Harris do you use the vibrating ones or just the regular rolle?

I'm bedbound alot with spine problems. On my sides most of the time. What device is good for that? I'd like a device to press against the back,neck and not have to do anything but let it be like a Massage gun or shiatsu massage, vibration type device. I'm thin also so I has to be soft on the bones.

Great Review as always keep up the awesome work, can you make a review of the massage guns that say they have 16mm of Amplitude but when measured they are actually not that length. Thx in advance.
@BeforeYouBuyReview3 жыл бұрын
There’s only one I’ve measured because it was obviously not 16mm. I need to still go through and make sure others match their marketing

Eh rollers get into the general area and you can’t really use them on your arms the massage gun is pin point but also a lot more money
@BeforeYouBuyReview4 жыл бұрын
Yup exactly. Pros and cons to both. I think both are great tools for recovery as I mentioned. I’ve also seen rollers more expensive than massage guns I recommend. You can spend boat loads on massage guns too though

I just bought a roller that has a plastic horse shoe shape with 2 rollers on each side. It worked well on my arms and legs since it is sort of spring loaded. I also bought a vibrating foam roller and I can see a need for both. Tonight was the first time I have used a roller, but it felt very similar to the deep tissue work my massage therapist does....actually most of what she does for me is trigger point and deep tissue since I have very high muscle tension. A chiro recommended a foam roller and it is one of the few things I hadn't tried yet. The horseshoe roller seemed like a great way to solve some of the issues I imagined with the regular roller. It was fast and easy to use on my own as a first time user and it was only 20 bucks. I am not flexible, so the massage gun may work well for some areas but probably won't reach my back.

I personally think rollers are way better. I have top notch pro plus. It’s good. A roller with nubs and your body weight can get a way better massage. For $400 cheaper.

I’d probably recommend the Theragun Prime. See my review to make sure. kzbin.info/www/bejne/npDEZIN_mJKikMU
